Adopting a Friend
All of our dogs and puppies are spayed or neutered, have a nationally registered micro-chip, are current on all shots (including rabies) and have been de-wormed. They have also been bathed, had their ears cleaned and flea treatments, as needed. The dogs are in great health when they go to a new home! Our adult dog adoption fee is $125.00, which covers all of the above procedures/treatments. Puppies under 6 months are $150.00 and recieve all the treatments an adult dog does. We also spend time evaluating our dog's temperaments to find out if they are dog, cat, or child friendly!
Adoption Events
Stop by the GOODWILL, 1850 Madison Avenue, the second Sunday of every month to meet the dogs that are up for adoption. Store is located in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Stop by Bomgaars, 2703 E Kanesville Blvd the last Sunday of every month from 12:30-2:30. Store is located in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
**If you find a dog you are really interested in we suggest you go to pottcounty.com and under the Animal Control Department download our Adoption Application, and fax the completed application to our shelter. We will then hold the dog for you until you can come see your new best friend in person. This is the only way we will hold a dog for you. We will take multiple adoption applications that are held in the order they come in and then it is first come, first serve!**
Come Visit Us!
We are located just off I-29 South at exit 42 (Bellevue exit). Turn right onto 189th street which is the access road to Mid American Energy past the Saddle Store and the trucking company, and take your first left on Applewood Road. We are a block up on your right....you can't miss us. We are open daily from 8 a.m. till noon. The shelter staff are also Animal Control Officers which is the reason we have limited hours, but you can always call for an appointment. Please let us know if you are planning on visiting us so we can make sure someone is here to meet you!
