Membership fees are:
$25.00 Individual/year
$40.00 Family/year
$200.00 for a Lifetime Membership

Adopting A Friend
If you are interested in one of the pets listed, please call us at 785-317-5545 or send an email to pchs@wamego.net. We will answer whatever questions we can about the pet and send you an adoption application.
Fees for adopting are:
$120 Dogs
$75 Cats
The fee pays a portion of the costs that PCHS incurs to vaccinate, heartworm test and spay or neuter the animal. In some cases an animal might require extensive veterinarian care which may result in a higher fee.
We will do out of state adoptions as long as humane transport can be set up for the animal. The person adopting the animal is responsible for the cost of the health certificate, adoption fee and transport. Many times we can enlist the help of volunteers to help with a ground transport.
Who We Are
The Pottawatomie County Caring hearts Humane Society operates the Wamego Animal Shelter. We do not have a land line phone at the facility. We have cell phones that humane society volunteers carry. By calling one of the numbers below, you may be asked to leave a voice mail message. Please do so as we check our voice mail several times a day and will return your call. We also check the PCHS email account daily of you prefer to contact us through email.

WAYS TO VOLUNTEER
Walk A Dog At The Shelter!
It is good for your health and also good for the dog's socialization and well-being. Currently we are walking the dogs daily at 8:30 am and at 4:00 pm. Summer hours are later. A schedule is sent our weekly by email. Please contact Susan Clasen, Shelter Volunteer Coordinator, at 785-313-3194 for more information.
Be A Foster Home!
Foster homes are a temporary home for the dogs until they are adopted. The main requirement for a foster home is love and patience with the sweet dogs who need it so much. PCHS pays for all vet care, food and supplies. You have your choice of the doge you would like to foster. If you would like more information about being a Foster Home, please call Julie Appino, Foster/Adoption Chairperson, at 785-317-5545.
