PET PROJECT INC.

Our Pet List

URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT: due to the lack of action by our county, the stray/lost pet situation has become most disheartening. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING ONE OF OUR PETS, PLEASE CONTACT US ASAP! As soon as we have open spaces at our little safe haven, we will be filling them up - otherwise many MANY pets will have no other option other than euthanasia by the county. Their time for survival has been shortend greatly.

Our Featured Dog...

Eye Candy! Shaugnessy

I am really Shaugnessy but the pictures there left something to be desired. Now I will see how long it takes until I go home. I really am handsome with my chocolate coat and one blue eye but I do not photograph well. People who come out here will say wow he is a great looking dog. Not only am a great looking I am well trained - I like most other dogs but there are a few here that get my Irish up - they started it, not me!. They never liked me since the day I came I guess because our caregiver loves me just a mite more than the rest - maybe!!! I am only one of two out here that will only potty on the grass or in the play area all the other places are a no no. I think I am 4 years old - I love the little people who walk me and make over me. I am just soo good any little smiles from me get the wee ones giggling up a storm. It must be the fact that I make all these faces that are funny- I know how to entertain after all I am Shaugnessy!!

10 YR. PPI ALUMNI MORTON CELEBRATES WITH A SMILE

IT'S GREAT IN 2008! PPI IS ACTIVELY LOOKING TO MOVE FROM OUR LITTLE SAFE HAVEN - OUR FARM BUILDING HAS SERVED US WELL BUT IT'S TIME TO GO...A NEW SHELTER BUILT TO OUR SPECIFICATIONS FROM THE GROUND UP IS OUR DREAM, BUT WE KNOW IT WILL TAKE LOTS OF FUNDING AND HARD WORK. FIRST AND FOREMOST OUR CONCERNS ARE RAISING FUNDS TO KEEP THE ANIMALS IN OUR CARE SAFE AND TO CONTINUE TO FIND HOMES FOR THE ABANDONED HERE IN LASALLE COUNTY. STAY TUNED FOR AN EXCITING NEW FUNDRAISER THAT IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER, TO HELP US TAKE OUR FIRST STEPS TOWARDS OUR DREAM OF A NEW SAFE HAVEN.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Pet Project Inc. is a no-kill shelter. However, there is no pound in LaSalle County. Stray dogs and cats are housed by some of our local veterinarians. Quite often we will post courtesy listings for pets on behalf of the vets - in hopes of locating their original owners, or in hopes of finding them new homes. These pets are picked up as strays throughout the county - you can tell by looking that they've been cared for and are healthy and friendly. We can arrange an appointment for you to meet any of these pets, please write or call us - 99.99% of the time these dogs and cats are in danger of being euthanized due to lack of space. If our shelter is full, we cannot take them, but we can try to help save them. We have only so much room at our shelter, and particular times of the year, both ourselves and the vets are overloaded with homeless animals. These animals have no other chance at finding homes unless we try to help as best we can. We are not affiliated with any county/city animal control program - but we do work with them when necessary, in order to save as many lives as possible

Please note - all potential adopters must complete an adoption application. All applications MUST be approved before anyone can take home a new pet. We are trying to do the best we can for our residents, they deserve it. Thank you for understanding. See below for instructions.

Please check your spam/junk mail folders if you do not hear from us! Sometimes messages end up in there, depending on your email settings. Remember to check for replies if you don't hear from us right away.

MOST BUSINESS IS CONDUCTED ON LUNCH BREAKS AND AFTER 5 EXCEPT FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS (OUR MAIN ADOPTION DAYS) IF YOU SEE A PET ONLINE THAT YOU ARE INTERESTED IN, IT IS REQUIRED THAT YOU FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. IT MUST BE PROCESSED BEFORE YOU COME TO THE SHELTER AND/OR TAKE AN ANIMAL HOME. Who We Are

PET PROJECT INC. is dedicated to saving the lives of unwanted, abused, or abandoned pets. We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Our shelter is a NO-KILL animal shelter. We are not state, county or federally funded. All of our funding is raised entirely by donations and charity events. We are run entirely with a volunteer staff - all of our staff is committed to finding our furry friends the loving home they need and deserve. BIG or small - we LOVE them ALL!!!!

We are in need of VOLUNTEERS.

It is a truly rewarding experience. Just a little bit of your time makes a huge difference. We need people to answer phones, walk the dogs, do laundry, help feed, water and clean cages. And so much more. If you are interested in becoming part of our team please email or phone the shelter. You may also call Mary at 433-6890.

Adopting a friend

The first step to adopting your pet is pet/owner compatibility. We want to make sure that the pet you choose, chooses you also!! We like for each of you to meet and get to know one another. Then all the proper paper work must be completed. There is an adoption fee on all dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. All animals that are old enough are spayed/neutered, and all have been dewormed and vaccinated. Dogs are also microchipped. Our new policy is that an application must be filled out and returned to Pet Project by email or fax or snail mail. If you are the person that has matched one of our pets you will be given a number to call for answers to questions you may have or to answer questions we have for you. At this time you will be able to make an appointment to come to the shelter. Making an appointment to begin the adoption process is recommended. You may call the shelter daily. Feel free to email as well. If you don't see what you are looking, for please ASK. We get new dogs and cats often and may be able to find the pet you are looking for or have that pet at the shelter but not up online yet. ALL DOGS MUST BE INDOOR DOGS UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE. CATS MUST BE INDOOR PETS AS WELL. WE DO ADOPT OUT OF STATE TO APPROVED APPLICANTS, HOWEVER WE DO NOT SHIP. YOU ARE REQUIRED TO COME TO THE SHELTER TO FILL OUT THE PROPER PAPERWORK TO COMPLETE THE ADOPTION.
