CASH

Cash is an easy-going boy looking for his forever home. We keep reminding him he's too big to be a lap dog! Email us for further information about CASH!

JOIN US AT THE FARMER'S MARKET

UPDATE: Much as we hate to do it, we are going to have to cancel our outreach at the March 4th Farmer's Market. Weather is predicted to be freezing, and that is just too cold for us to take our animals to an outdoor event.

We will have an adoption booth Thursday March 4th at the Farmer's Market in Ocala at Circle Square Commons, Top of the World, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (weather permitting). The market also features locally-grown fresh seasonal produce, baked goods, plants, hand-made soaps and more. We look forward to seeing you there! For directions, call Gary or Antonio (352) 427-3982 or email us: floridapets@yahoo.com .

Vet Expense Survey

Many people do not realize that there can be a big difference between what different vets charge for the same services. On 2-11-10 we did our annual mini-survey of 5 vets in Marion County.

What we priced was a pretty standard package of services that included: An exam, a rabies vaccine, a fecal check, a skin scrape, a heartworm test, and a nail trim. Here are the range of prices we were given:

Vet A: $119.

Vet B: $125.

Vet C: $167.54

Vet D: $ 122.50

Vet E: $142.

MICROCHIPS

If you are looking for a low-cost way to chip your pet, The Marion County Animal Center offers pet microchipping for $5.00

When you have a microchip implanted by a vet, or if you get a dog that has a chip in it, you must register yourself as the owner in the database of the company that made the microchip.

The two major manufacturers of microchips are Avid and Home Again. Registration costs about $15 and must be mailed to the company. Your vet does not do this when he puts in the microchip - you must do it yourself separately. Please check and see if your pet has a microchip and register it NOW! And if you have moved, make sure you have notifed the microchip company about your change of address and contact information. Your pet's life could depend on it.

Email us for further information about microchips.

THANK YOU TO CUSTOM FENCE

We want to give a big Thank You to Custom Fence of 116 N. Florida Avenue, Inverness Florida for their very generous donation of materials and labor for much-needed repairs to our ageing kennels. The owners of Custom Fence are animal people, so they understand what it takes to confine a dog, and they are doing a great job!

Pet Network relies solely upon donations to help homeless pets. If you would like to help, donations can be sent to us at P.O. Box 56, Morriston, FL 32668.

TRANSPORT NEEDED

We are looking for volunteers to transport dogs one or two Saturdays a month from their foster home to adoption in Ocala. Currently we have 2 foster homes in the Dunnellon area that need help with transport.

Who We Are

Pet Network, Inc., is a no-kill rescue group serving Ocala and surrounding areas in North Central FL. We provide shelter and medical care to homeless pets. We are a nonprofit, tax-exempt 501c3 charitable organization that was founded in 2001. We care for and adopt many older and special needs pets. We receive no government funding. We are an all-volunteer organization with no paid employees. All donations are used to care for homeless animals. Our major expenses are vet bills and dog food. Currently we have many dogs with special needs and vet bills. Donations are always appreciated!

Adopting a friend

Pet Network is a no-kill rescue group doing pet adoptions in Citrus, Marion, and Alachua Counties in FL. Dogs coming through our rescue are brought up to date on vaccinations, checked for heartworms and other parasites, placed on heartworm preventive, and spayed or neutered before placement. Our adoptions have a two-week full refund return option.

We do local adoptions only. We have an application process which includes a home visit. Our goal is to match the right pet to the right home!

Come Visit Us!

Pet Network uses foster homes instead of a commercial animal shelter facility. Our dogs are shown by appointment. We hold outreach pet adoptions at the Petco on St. Rd. 200 in Ocala every Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Let us know if you need directions!
