A Very Special Dog . . .
Russell, or Russ to those he calls friends, is an older gentlemen will plenty of life left of him. He likes to enjoy the retired life - sitting on the deck, enjoying nature and the company of those around him. While stairs aren't his favorite, Russ loves to get out and explore the neighborhood and would appreciate a daily walk or two. He's a sweet guy with a big, yet charming personality for his small body. Actually, I'd argue Russell is the perfect size dog - not too big, not too small at 20 lbs. Do you have a place in your heart for Russell? He will reward you with love, companionship and the peace of mind knowing you have a forever friend waiting patiently for you at home .

A Very Special Cat. . .
Amber is looking for a home that hopes for a lap cat! She's a busy player with her toys, loves to watch out the window and can hardly wait for you to get settled once you come in the door! Are you going to sit and work at the computer? Watch a movie? Amber knows all the places you'll choose to sit and will be by as soon as you are ready - time for some time right next to you or on your lap!

Pet Haven has many wonderful cats, dogs, kittens and puppies looking for new homes. Photographs and descriptions of the available animals are here on our web site at PetHavenMN.PetFinder.org. Click on the "Pet List" link at the top of this page. You can also call us at (952)831-3825 and leave a voicemail message. A volunteer will get back to you.
We hold public adoption events on weekends. The foster home volunteers bring the pets to these events and potential adopters have a chance to meet the animals and talk with the foster families. If a good match is found, the pet can be adopted that day. The schedule of upcoming adoption events is listed below.
It is also possible to meet and adopt pets at other times. Our foster homes are always willing to talk with and arrange for potential adopters to meet the animal they are fostering. Again, contact us via the e-mail addresses listed below or by phone.
Pet Haven reserves the right to refuse any adoption we do not feel is appropriate.
DOGS
Our dog adoption events are normally held from 11am to 1 pm on the first and third Saturdays of each month. We hold 2 separate events: one to feature our small dogs and a second featuring our medium to large dogs.
The time of Dog Adoptions is generally 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 7 the large and medium dogs will be at the PetCo in Richfield at 66th and Lyndale Ave. S from 11-1 p.m. and the small dogs will be at the Chuck and Don's in Wayzata at the same time. CATS
Pet Haven Cats' will have an adoption on Sunday, Jan. 22, from 1-3 p.m. We will be at the PetCo in Richfield at 66th and Lyndale Ave. S. Interested in adopting between now and then? Send an e mail from the cat you are interested in or call the voice mail line and leave a message with a good time to call you - and your phone number, of course.
Sylvie loves to play and does a good job of amusing herself and likes to play with you. Cheveyo is a boy with shorter eartips due to frostbite, he's laid back, affectionate and playful. Looking for a pair of sisters? Patches is a friendly, outgoing older kitten who will be a big boy when he is fully grown. A laid-back girl looking for security and loving? Olive fits the bill. How about a big boy? Noah? Paxton? Momma Bear loves to have her cheeks rubbed and help in the kitchen! Phoebe and Peaches are both declawed.
Our cats and kittens have tested negative for feline leukemia and fiv, are up to date on distemper and rabies (if old enough) and have been microchipped and spayed /neutered. The adoption fee ranges from $130.00 - $150.00. Please come at the beginning of an adoption event if there is a specific cat you are hoping to meet. Email inquiries and home adoptions always welcome!
Foster Homes Needed... All of the dogs and cats in Pet Haven's adoption program stay in volunteer foster homes until permanent homes are found for them. We currently are turning away needy cats and dogs because our foster homes are full. Pet Haven provides all vet care, food, supplies and lots of support. It is Pet Haven's responsibility to find a suitable new home for the animal you foster. We've been doing it for over 50 years, so you can count on us. If you are interested in providing temporary care for a cat or dog, please contact us at cats@pethavenmn.org to foster a cat, at dogs@pethavenmn.org to foster a dog or call and leave a voicemail message at (952)831-3825.
We would like you to commit to fostering for a 6 month period of time. Pet Haven has experienced volunteers available to help you and answer any questions you have as you care for the foster animal. If you wish to foster cats, we can place a cat in your home that has already been in another foster home so that you will know what to expect from the pet you would receive. If you wish to foster dogs, we can fit the size, age and energy level of your foster dog to match your lifestyle and home situation. Every cat and dog is checked by a veterinarian before it is placed in your home for fostering. Cats receive a feline leukemia/fiv test so we know the animal is not infectious. Both cats and dogs receive distemper and rabies vaccinations and are spayed or neutered, treated for fleas and earmites and are dewormed and microchipped. Dogs also receive heartworm tests and treatment if needed. Both cats and dogs are treated for any other ailments uncovered during the vet's examination. Pet Haven provides excellent vet care to all of the animals in our adoption program. What do we need from you? We need the love in your heart to care for the cat or dog until it finds a forever home. We need you to have a safe indoor place to house the foster dog or cat. Dogs also need a fenced yard, an area for a tie-out, or leash walks. Cats need a room to stay in. Some foster homes fully integrate their foster cat into their home, others choose to keep it in a room and visit for play and loving sessions daily. Once the animal is ready to be placed in a new home, we need you to bring your foster animal to our twice monthly adoption events or partner with another volunteer who can transport your foster dog or cat to the adoption events. We also need you to occasionally be available to meet with potential adopters (accompanied by an experienced Pet Haven volunteer) at other times by appointment. Every new foster home worries that it will be too hard to give up the animal once they have cared for it and fallen in love. This fear keeps many from volunteering at all. It is hard - even those who have fostered for many years have a hard time with that. But, Pet Haven gives you a say in choosing the new home for the animal because we know you have a personal interest in the well-being of your foster cat or dog. Meeting the new family and knowing where the foster animal is going helps to make it easier to give them up. Besides, once your foster pet has found a new home, we can fill the hole they left with a new foster dog or cat and you then move on to helping another homeless companion. Please don't let this concern stop you from helping the animals who need you to volunteer. You CAN do it! If you are unable to foster, could you broadcast our need to your friends,
family and co-workers?
Volunteers Needed... Want to help homeless pets, but being a foster home is not up your alley? You can help in other ways. Please contact us at Volunteer@PetHavenMN.org or leave a message at (952)831-3825 to volunteer. Thanks!
Thanks!
