Perry County Animal Shelter's Adoptable Pet List

The Perry County Animal Shelter, Inc. is a 501c3 state of the art privately owned shelter located in Perry County, Indiana. We accept surrenders from Perry County only, but allow adoptions from anywhere. The Board of Directors took control of the facility on July 1, 2004 & has made vast improvements since then, including the construction of a new facility. Our facility has 12 isolation kennels and 12 adoption kennels. We have separate isolation for kittens, cats, and puppies. The facility was designed for maximum disease control, including 3 separate heating, cooling, and ventilation zones between the isolation and adoption areas. Strict protocols are implemented to prevent spread of any disease.

Perry County Animal Shelter takes its job of providing care to homeless animals very seriously. Currently PCAS offers an extensive health care program for all adoptable animals entering our shelter. Every animal is temperament and health tested, vaccinated, de-wormed, groomed, and held in quarantine for ten days. Every animal is spayed or neutered before going into their new homes so we never add to pet overpopulation. Our goal at PCAS is to place healthy adoptable pets into loving homes for life. We encourage the public seeking a pet to come to our facility and spend time with the animal. We require an approved application for adoption to make sure our pets are going to have a "happily ever after" that will give them endless love and the best of care. PCAS has the right to refuse adoption for any reason. Many of our babies haven't had the best life prior to PCAS and it is our mission and goal to make sure that homelessness or abuse will never again be part of their lives. We do out of state adoptions, but require that you come to the center to meet the animal unless prior arrangements have been made.

If you can't adopt you can help our pets by assisting with a sponsorship to help with their vet expenses and adoption placement. We need volunteers to help clean kennels, walk dogs and socialize cats, answer phones, along with many other jobs we have to squeeze into the day. We do request that all volunteers attend a short volunteer orientation before volunteering. Volunteer hours vary. We invite groups, students and anyone who is interested in a volunteer opportunity to contact us today!! We promise you will get lots of kisses and tail wags in return. Bouncing puppies with ribbons tied beautifully around their necks, fluffy kittens with bright bows on top of their heads. Companion pets have been a huge part of the human experiences for many years, bringing joy, love, and devotion to their human families while asking for little more than the same in return. We here at PCAS know that receiving an animal as a gift is an honor, and speaks much for the giver's affection toward the human friend, but animals are not disposable. We believe that pets are essential to a well-balanced life, and take great satisfaction in sharing the joys of a well-matched companionship between animal and human. A gift certificate from our shelter would allow the gift recipient to pick their own best friend that best suits them, and would better ensure an optimal bonding experience.

PCAS is rescue friendly too!! Please contact us if you can take an animal into your rescue. Unfortunately we are a kill shelter so please don't hesitate to contact us.
