Emergency Foster Homes Needed

A rescue group in Georgia was forced to close and many dogs faced death in the gas chamber. Volunteers from around the nation stepped forward to help and Penny Angels is taking of these eight dogs. This is a large number of Beagles to enter rescue at one time so foster homes are needed as soon as possible. Foster families are provided with food and medical care if they take the dog to our vet. If you are considering a Beagle, foster care is a great way to "try it out'. Please call 609-965-9476 for more information.

Foster Homes Urgently Needed..

Cody
Meet Cody. He was scheduled to be put to death at a shelter. Luckily for Cody, there was space for him at Penny Angels Beagle Rescue. His life was saved and now Cody has a new family. The rescue has an never-ending number of homeless Beagles coming into our organization. Foster homes are desperately needed to allow us to save more Beagles. The dogs in our organization are never kept in kennels so a strong network of foster home is vital to our mission. All foster families are provided with Pro Plan pet food and medical care is covered if you take the dog to our veterinarian. Foster care increases the chances for adoption as it shows the dog is living in a home environment. In addition, for every dog that goes into foster care, another space becomes available in rescue. If you are thinking of adding a dog to your family, foster care allows you to try it out for a week to see how everyone gets along. You get to know the dog and discover how the dog fits in with your family. Most importantly, another dog like Cody can get a second chance at life. Call us at 609-965-9476 to learn more about our foster care program.

Before You Adopt??

We at Penny Angels Beagle Rescue love our Beagles as members of our families. If you intend to adopt from us, we expect the same loyalty. Although we realize family situations can change and unexpected, tragic events can happen, we expect adoptive families to make a lifetime commitment to their dog. If you do not intend to make such a commitment, please strongly reconsider your decision to adopt. If you have children under the age of five, please seriously reconsider your decision to adopt a dog. We have had dogs returned to rescue because of incidents with very young children. A small child may not know how to properly interact with a dog. This could frighten the dog and cause him to growl and possibly bite. Being bitten can leave your child with a fear of dogs. Puppies are even worse to have with young children as they tend to mistreat the pups and the dogs become biters to protect themselves Make adoption a happy experience for everyone by waiting until your children are older.

A Word About Hunting Dogs

Many of the Beagles coming through the rescue are former hunting dogs. These Beagles tend to be very relaxed in the house. Often they are not as playful as other dogs but they love to be with people and make ideal companions. They easily adapt to indoor living and appreciate a warm, comfortable home. Having a fenced yard is good for them as it gives them the opportunity to safely track small animals, an activity they truly enjoy. Leash walks are another activity they love. They are seldom hyper-active and are generally friendly to humans. So if you are considering adopting a Beagle, please do not rule out the retired hunting dog. They have spent their lives serving mankind. Give them a chance to enjoy the good life.

Advantages of Adopting an Adult Dog

Many adult dogs are already housebroken. The size and temperament of the dog is already known. Most adult dogs are beyond the puppy "chewing stage". They are generally calmer and easier to handle. Many know basic commands and walk well on a leash. Puppies get adopted fairly quickly. By taking an adult dog into your home, you are saving a life.

WHO WE ARE

Penny Angel's Beagle Rescue is a non-profit organization whose mission is to safely rehome unwanted, abandoned, injured, senior or stray beagles. We are dedicated to taking in unwanted beagles from shelters or private homes. Once in our foster care program, all dogs are examined by a veterinarian, tested for heartworms, brought up to date with their vaccines, and spayed or neutered. If they need special care, it is provided.

If you are interested in adopting one of our beagles, please contact us directly so we can start the adoption process. We require both personal and vet references. We need to be able to verify that you are either a homeowner, or rent a property that allows you to have pets. Having a fenced yard is a plus ! Any adoptions that do not work out must be brought back to our rescue.

THANK YOUS & KUDOS

Thank you to the staff and management of the Mays Landing Petsmart for their assistance with our adoption days. We would also like to acknowledge the generous people who have made donations of cash and supplies. Our job is never done, but with the generosity and kindness of our supporters we are able to go on.

COME MEET OUR DOGS!

Many of our beagles are currently in foster care. If you are interested in meeting with one of our beagles, please contact us. Visits are made by appointment only to give us time to contact the foster family. There is a $150.00 adoption fee for adult dogs that is tax deductible.
