Our Mission

BunnyPeople is a 501(c)3 non-profit rabbit organization run completely by volunteers. Since 1992, we have worked to improve the plight of abandoned and abused domestic rabbits.
BunnyPeople educates the public on responsible rabbit ownership, including guidelines on choosing a rabbit and understanding the care and proper housing required for these indoor pets. We strive to make the community, existing owners, and prospective rabbit owners aware of our organization's presence and the need for proper house-rabbit care. We also promote spaying and neutering not only for population control, but for the better health and longevity of each animal.

Adoption Policy

BunnyPeople is an ALL-VOLUNTEER organization. Please allow up to one week for responses.

You may contact us about adopting a specific rabbit through Petfinder's email symbol that appears next to each bunny's picture. You can visit during a "Meet the Buns" event (held once a month), visit during an Open House, or make an appointment to visit the shelter.

All adopters must be screened by telephone before adopting a rabbit. If you would like to read our recommendations on rabbit care before you apply for adoption, please go to www.thebunnypeople.org, and click on "Rabbit Care Information" along the left side of the homepage.

BunnyPeople adopts out to individuals within a limited radius of our shelter in Harrisburg, PA for the safety and health of our rabbits. Generally, this covers central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland. Please email us if you are not certain if you are within our adoption area.

We do not adopt to classrooms, nursing or personal care homes, or college students.
