A cat in your life can add warmth, humor and peace of mind. A cat can teach your child empathy for others while keeping her secrets. If you can make the commitment, a cat is waiting to enhance your life in ways only a kindred spirit can.

Please remember a happy cat is a safe cat and a safe cat is always kept indoors. Never buy a pet for some else as a suprise present. You can always buy them a gift certificate from a shelter.

WE NEED FOSTER HOMES!

If you are willing to foster kittens, please contact Debbie at 973-953-0656 or e-mail Petstop33@aol.com .

If you can foster, we will provide you with a Dog-size Crate to keep them in and supplies. Also, we will vet the kittens. It is a rewarding experience! We are getting many calls every day about kittens left outside and we have no more room in the foster homes we already have.

It can also be a fun experience as you meet wonderful people.

Most of our foster families are located in the Madison/Union/Morristown area. We are especially seeking homes in that area so we will be closer to help them.

If you are interested or just would like to know more, contact Debbie at 973-953-0656 or e-mail Petstop33@aol.com. Thank you!

Cats are as deserving of our protection as dogs. But millions of cats suffer and die needlessly because they are allowed to roam. Free-roaming cats get a dangerous tradeoff: freedom to roam in exchange for the vastly increased liklihood of a premature, painful death.

Spay and neuter your cat. This not only makes them a better pet (and saves a rug) it helps end the pain and suffering of unwanted pets. An unspayed female cat, her mate and all of their offspring, producing two litters per year, with 2.8 surviving kittens per litter, can total to 67,000 in 6 years!

Arthur - Greatest Cat

Say hello to Arthur! Arthur is a beautiful kitten, about 13 or 14 weeks old, mostly white but with a few patches of orange – and an orange tabby tail! He’s sweet and loving and looking for a new home. Arthur has been neutered, vaccinated, and tested negative for feline leukemia and feline aids. If you are interested in this beautiful boy, please contact Diane at: c4pcats@aol.com or (908) 377-4579. "A meow massages the heart."

I will learn from what you teach.

Rescue me not simply to save me but to give me a new life.
I will appreciate the gift.

Rescue me not only with a firm hand but with tolerance and patience.
I will please you.

Rescue me not only because of who I am but who I?m to become.
I will grow and mature.

Rescue me not to revere yourself to others but because you want me.
I will never let you down.

Rescue me not with a hidden agenda but with a desire to teach me to trust.
I will be loyal and true.

Rescue me not to replace one you?ve lost but to soothe your spirit.
I will cherish you.

Rescue me not to be your pet but to be your friend.
I will give you unconditional love!

Every creature benefits from a friend of its own species. Adopt two kittens together and raise them indoors. Two cats will amuse, groom, and tend one another, alleviating the loneliness and boredom that often afflict solitary cats.

If you are interested in a particular pet, please contact the foster parent. Many pets can be seen by appointment.

"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." ~ Anatole France ~

I will keep my pet safe and healthy, treating her like the precious creature she is.

I will talk to my pet kindly and patiently as if she can understand every word.

I will love and protect my pet, keeping in mind that she counts on me for her entire survival and well-being.

I will value and appreciate all the love and loyalty my pet gives me.

You Wouldn't Eat a Cat or Dog Would You? Why not? All animals, not just dogs and cats, desire to be free from suffering and exploitation. Our organization endorses Campaign Humane, as we believe animal cruelty is wrong, whether the victim is a dog, cat, cow, pig, chicken, or fish. If you believe no animal should be made to suffer unnecessarily, please contact Campaign Humane for your "free" vegetarian starter guide. (CampaignHumane.org)

"I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal. And I was angry. "God" I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?" God was silent for a moment and then He spoke softly, "I have done something," he replied. "I created you." ~~~~ by Jim Willis 1999

A CAT?S VIEW OF TRUE LOVE

Abandoned! I was lost and scared,
Yet when your hand reached out, I dared,
To trust, just for a moment?s time
The voice that soothed the mew in mine.

You touched me lightly, stroked my fur.
I could not stop my throbbing purr,
For I was much in need of care,
Of gentleness, and love to share.

But I was wary, for I?d been
In hand that thought it was no sin
To treat a cat with mean distaste,
As if we had no rightful place.

And now, with you, I?ve found my home,
A place from which I?ll never roam,
For instinct tells me, strong and true,
That you love me as I love you.

~ Marna G. Simons

CAT CARE TIPS:

If you are away all day, it may be better to have two cats instead of just one. Cats love to play and sometimes, if they are deprived of playtime and become bored, some form of destructive behavior may result.

Eating grass is a normal activity for a cat. It helps with the digestive system and may aid in the passage of fur balls. Cat grass growing kits are available at many pet supply stores.

If properly cared for, a cat can live as long as twenty or even twenty-five years!

If your cat stops using the litter box, she may be getting a bladder infection, may not like the brand of litter you have started using, or may not feel comfortable using the litter box where it is kept.

Contrary to popular belief, milk is not a normal part of a cat's diet and many develop lactose intolerance as they get older. In these cats, milk can cause an upset stomach or diarrhea.

High-quality commercially prepared cat foods have been scientifically developed to give your cat the correct balance of nutrients and calories. Buy the highest-quality food you can afford to help keep your cat healthy.

Spaying your female cat prevents her from suffering the agonizing frustration of being in heat, a state that typically lasts about a week and cycles repetitively through most of the year. It also helps to prevent uterine or ovarian cancer and mammary tumors.

When a male cat is neutered, he becomes less driven to roam or act aggressively toward other animals. He will not be as likely to spray in the house, and his urine will not have a strong marking scent.

Even if your cat is strictly an indoor cat, there is still a possibility of escaping through an open window or door, especially with an unfamiliar crowd of people around or an emergency situation. That is why it is important for every cat to have a collar with an identification tag.
