RESCUE CLOSED (at least for awhile!)

Shop at our online store to find great guinea pig items. Proceeds from each item sold will help fund our rescue efforts!
We will be closing down the rescue after these last few piggies find their forever home. It's been 5 long years and it's time for us to take a break from the rescue world! Thanks to everyone who has been there supporting us as we go and to everyone who has given up a Saturday here and there to come scoop cages. The piggies and myself surely appreciate every little bit of help over the years.
Special Adoption Package Adopt two piggies and purchase a 2x4 cubes and coroplast cage for $60 (www.guineapigcages.com to view photo's of this style of cage). This adoption package will only be offered for a short time to those who are approved for adoption. You save $35 with this deal from our regular adoption fee and cage price. Cage tops can be requested for an additional charge.
We are no longer accepting guinea pigs as owner surrenders. If you wish to contact us, we can place your name and your guinea pigs on our private adoptions list and refer people to the private adoptions list when we do not have a specific guinea pig an adopter may be seeking. We will keep the guinea pigs and your information on record for 6 months, after that, you must resubmit the information to remain on the list.
If you are an animal shelter looking for advice or possibly help in relocating guinea pigs to a rescue - please do not hesitate to contact me. I will try to help out shelters and other rescues with their guinea pigs as I can.
If you are looking to rehome your pet, please read on for internet sources for free classified postings.
Please remember that if you have adopted from us in the past and can no longer take care of the guinea pigs, they must come back to us here! We will always be here for the animals we've adopted out!
Since we have limited resources and space for guinea pigs, we will consider private surrenders on a limited basis, we request a small surrender fee of $25 per guinea pig and supplies be given with the cavies. However, we would rather try to take the guinea pigs from the local shelters that are at risk of being euthanized when we have space for them. Petfinder.org, CavyRescue.com or www.gpan.net All three offer free classified services to aid in finding your pet a new home, please try those options first.
We adopt our guinea pigs to adults (over 18) and families, we do not place our guinea pigs with children. If you are under 18 years of age, please have your parent or guardian email us about our adoptable pets.

Unfortunatly, at this time we are unable to provide tax deductable donations. In the future, we hope to change this by becoming a recognized 501(c) non-profit organization.
NOTE: We can only accept payment straight from the bank account via e-checks or from your paypal balance. We cannot accept credit or debit card payments due to the fees added on to those transactions.
If you'd like to donate to our rescue efforts and you do not have paypal, you can send to the p.o. box name and address listed below:
WE HAVE CLOSED OUR PO BOX ADDRESS. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO SEND US DONATIONS, PLEASE EMAIL.
The rescue expenses can run high at times, and we pay for everything out of our own pocket (While I haven't had the nerve to figure it exactly, one volunteer estimated $500/month is for basic care of the pigs excluding emergency veterinary care). Every little bit donated helps us out and allows us to help more cavies in need, so thank you.
At times, we may also need help with socializing, medicating or cleaning. Please contact us if you think you may be interested in helping out, we're also open to other ideas that people may have for volunteer assistance.

(While all the vets in the practice do well with guinea pigs, we recomend Dr. Riggs when available)
Some of our guinea pigs will be spayed or neutered prior to adoption to ensure that our pets that we adopt out will never contribute to the already overpopulation of guinea pigs in our area and across the country. We'd love to do them all, but it would be impossible financially. If for some reason the guinea pig cannot be spayed or netuered, he or she MUST go to a home as a companion for a same sex guinea pig or as a companion for an already altered pig(proof may be required).
We offer our adopters(or anyone in the area) the option to purchase a cage similar to those seen on Cavy Cages for a fee, prices vary depending on size($35-$60) for an open top, single level cage. These cages are preferred over those cages sold in petstores, petstore cages are almost all too small for a pair of adult cavies to live in happily.
CAGE SIZE IS IMPORTANT! We require that our adopters have at least 7.5 square feet of cage space per two guinea pigs. Preferably larger, especially for boys. We house our many rescued guinea pigs in at least this much space per pair and expect no less from our adopters.
For more information on proper care and housing of guinea pigs, please see the Guinealynx article "Raising a Healthy Cavy".
So you think that a pair of guinea pigs would be a great starter pet for the kids? Please read this link - Kids And Cavies
An application must be filled out prior to being approved for adoption. Please email us for more information and/or a copy of our adoption application.
We will NOT ship Guinea Pigs and we encourage all potential adopters to come meet all of the pigs in the rescue to ensure that the pet(s) you choose will work out well with your family.
Also understand that adopting from us is not a quick process, please do not email us if you are looking for a quick pet. We do not operate like the petstores and hand over a guinea pig to the first person who pays for it, a lot of time and consideration is placed into making sure the guinea pig(s) new homes will last.
We cannot quarentee that the guinea pig that you are applying to adopt will be available after a pending approval. Guinea pigs are placed with the first qualified adopter that is suited for that particular cavy, sometimes we have more than one family apply for the same cavy. Keep this in mind when emailing and make sure you are able to arrange a time to come to the rescue and meet ALL of our adoptable pets! Looks aren't everything! =)
