You're not just adopting a pet from us. You're adopting a new family member.
Please note that we do not accept owner-surrenders (unless the animal was originally adopted from us) into our rescue due to a lack of foster homes. We only pull from high-kill & overcrowded shelters when space is available.
The next RASCAL low-cost clinic in Mansfield is Saturday May 26th. Appointments are required and can be made beginning May 1st by calling 567.241.3244. Dogs, cats and rabbits are welcome. Please check the Rascal Unit's website to view their other clinics in surrounding counties.

About Us
Mid-Ohio Animal Welfare League is a small volunteer-operated organization whose mission is to protect and promote value and respect for all animals. We act as a voice for the voiceless creatures through advocacy and community education. Our main purpose is to provide affordable spay/neuter services to our community. When able, we accept animals into our foster home-based rescue. Animals that enter our rescue are kept for as long as it takes to find forever homes - which can be a matter of a week to many months. We pull from high-kill pounds/shelters - often choosing those companions in need of medical attention. MAWL is an advocate of feral and stray cats and offers TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) services to Richland County. As a recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization, your donations are tax-deductible. We operate solely on donations, so please consider supporting our efforts.
Adoption Process
We do not have a shelter. All of our adoptable animals are fostered in homes. An adoption application is required. Since our fosters are in homes, we require an approved application to arrange a meet & greet, unless we have public adoption events scheduled. We require home visits and references. Please email us at the below address for an application. The adoption fees are $175 for dogs and $75 for cats, which help to offset some of the cost of vetting. All our adoptable companions are sterilized before adoption, up-to-date on shots, microchipped, dewormed, and leukemia tested (cats)/ heartworm tested (dogs). The goal of the adoption process is to match the right adopter with the right dog or cat. Cats and dogs can easily live 15+ years, so please think seriously about adding a companion animal to your life. They are not disposable. Adopters sign a contract stating that they will return their companion animal to us if their family can no longer keep it. We reserve the right to deny any application. We typically do not adopt to out-of-state applicants.
