We operate a small rescue organization that is determined to help unwanted shelter animals whose time has run out, and their destiny is deemed perilous. Maryland Animal Sanctuary & Rescue Organization, Inc. is supported by a select few volunteers who have the same passionate desire to save as many shelter animals as possible. Some animals come from local shelters and others form distant shelters, still others are displaced homeless animals found wandering the streets. All the animals are "fostered" out of volunteer's homes. They are socialized with children, other animals, and are exposed to normal family life. We take each animal for a vet check, have them vaccinated, de-wormed ect... If an animal is 22 weeks or more they will always be altered. We require an adoption application, a signed contract and a fee. We will complete a 2 week follow-up and a 6 month follow-up including veterinarian follow-up on your new companion. If you are interested in adopting any of our furry four-legged friends, e-mail us for an adoption application. Please keep in mind : WE will not ship animals, but will consider reasonable transport for the perfect home! The animals hope to hear from you soon. Thanks for considering adoption from a rescue organization!

Donations are a big part of rescue. Adoption fees do NOT cover the expenses involved in rescue. All money received by our organization is always applied directly towards the ever-increasing veterinarian bills. The money allows us to spay and neuter, vaccinate, and treat many animals who have had a very difficult road to finding their forever families. Almost 100% of the time, our volunteers must use their own funds to feed the foster animals in their care a healthy diet, and often they splurge on toys, treats, or even a new litter box. Fostering is difficult enough... We appreciate the selfless act, but we must also acknowledge the monetary sacrifices they make as well. All our furry friends say a heartfelt "Thank You".
The animals depend on us for everything – from food, to medical care, to toys. Your contibutions are always welcome and needed to offer daily care for lots of needy pets. It may seem bold asking for your assistance, but we have to be the voice for those without one. I know several compassionate people check my site every week, just to see the new faces I have rescued. If you can't adopt at this time, don't worry...there are so many other ways to help. You could foster one of the homeless, You could help organize or attend a fundraiser, Donate items for a flea market or Make craft items for a fundraiser, You could help transport animals from the shelter or Pick up a pet from the vet. Of course, a monetary donation is always appreciated, but we have many other needs as well: You could donate old towels, blankets, sheets, pillows, crates or kennels you no longer use, toys, treats, leashes, collars, bedding for the small furry pets, office supplies, office equiptment, OR even Gift cards from petstores in any amount would be appreciated. My ***SPECIAL REQUESTS this month: Heating Pads for the small orphaned babies, goats milk, formula, nursing bottles for kittens and puppies, KMR, Nutri-CAL for puppies and Kittens.****
If you have the ability to donate money towards the vet bills, that would be greatly appreciated!!! All the vets at Acadamy Animal Hosptial work very hard for rescue organizations such as mine. They do their best to give us reduced fees, but vet bills just seem to keep growing with every animal rescued. You may call in a credit card donation to 410-483-5162, don't forget to have it credited towards the MAS Rescue account! Or If you choose to write a check, you can make it out to Academy Animal Hospital and mail it directly to them at 5915 Belair Road, Baltimore, MD 21206. Don't forget to notate: "Apply towards MAS Rescue's bill". Please contact me via e-mail to make sure the proper amount has been credited. Also note: if you wish to be a volunteer or to schedule a pick-up or drop-off of donated goods please call or e-mail me.

"RAMBO HUNTER": Imagine seeing a tiny, 10 week old kitten hobbling across the parking lot after work one evening? Dragging his rear leg. How many of you would turn away in saddness? Maybe thinking "it's such a shame... but what can I do?" Lucky for Rambo, one of my part-time volunteers, Teresa, didn't just turn away, She reacted!! Knowing her vending machine sold tuna, she ran inside to purchase a can and returned to coax this tiny kitten into her care. The starving the little guy just ate happily as my volunteer called me and hurried him to our waiting arms. Rambo is beautiful Tuxedo (black and white) kitten with the most soulful eyes. When he looked at us, it was with deep gratitude, knowing he was finally receiving the care he so deperately needed. Rambo had been injured, infested with fleas and a much bigger concern ... maggots. It took us almost five hours of continual work to free him from the deadly parasites. It was heartbreaking to hear him purr the whole time we were working on him, even though it had to be terribley painful. After we snuggled him in, with a full belly, lots of fluids, and a warm water bottle, as he slept... we all prayed for him to make it through the night. Rambo was much better in the a.m., ready for his trip to the vets. He received a FIV/FeLuk test (negative), parasite treatments, and X-rays... which confirmed our fears, he will need a partial amputation of his rear leg, due to severe nerve damage. Currently he is on antibiotics to help the healing process, at a caring foster home. In the meantime, we NEED to raise the funds to have his leg amputated. ANY amount will count... Can you help this little guy? If so, please mail your check donation to MAS Rescue, P.O. Box 5143, Baltimore, MD 21224, Mark the memo line "FOR RAMBO" ...can you help him now?? Rambo thanks you with lots of kitty Purrs. I hate to think what would have become of this poor baby if Teresa would have turned her back on him... his suffering would have ended in a painful tragedy. Instead, because of her kindness and compassion, Rambo has the opportunity to bring smiles to people near him, change peoples lives for the better, and live his life to the fullest, as it was meant to be...
Together... working towards common goals... rescueing the forgotten, the helpless and the homeless four-legged furry friends... I couldn't accomplish all that I have without the help and support of so many dedicated volunteers...
On a fall day in Spetember, a little girl named GRACE, made a selfless decision to help the homeless animals in her community. She decided that she would forgo any birthday presents for her 9th birthday, and asked only that her friends bring gifts for homeless animals to her party. She then contacted our rescue group with boxes loaded with items we use everyday! I was moved to tears. How proud her parents were of her. I am encouraged and filled with hope, by the love and compassion of this little girl. She shows us all how one small act of kindness can have such a huge impact on those innocent lives around us. You are my hero and a leader for us all. Heartfelt thanks from MAS Rescue!! GRACE HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!! She had another birthday party and asked only fo rdonations to MAS. She arrived with an UNBELIEVABLE amount of toys, food, treats, leashes, collars, towels, a dog bed and SO much more! Charlotte and Grace - we just LOVE you!
Speaking of selfless, wonderful children: a HUGE thank you and SO much admiration to BILLY N. who just had a birthday party and asked as his gifts for monetary donations to MAS Rescue. He received over $260! That is a HUGE help to us and an amazing gift to our animals. 100% of this went toward our vet bill to help sick animals! Billy, you are a HERO! A special and giant thanks to Billy and his Mom who are also FOSTERING for us! They are doing an amazing job with Dalys and we are thrilled that we will have a long and wonderful relationship with Billy and Leanne! We love you both!

What a huge difference you made and how honored we felt to be the focus of your tremendous and generous efforts!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! A special thank you to Olivia C., aka Chewie's sister for getting the ball rolling. You are a great person!!!
I wanted to take the time to give a BIG Thanks to several other special people who offer their time, their money, their cars, their homes, their talents, and share their lives with our furry companions in need:
JESSICA and STEVE: This lovely couple adopted an adorable doggie from MAS Rescue named Yoshi. He was loved so much by them, that when Jessica and Steve heard of all the people who were having to reliquish their pets during this economic crisis, they called me to see how they could help. They gladly offered to foster for us. They have so far helped us place at least 10 doggies with new furr-ever families. You have not only saved their lives, but enriched them as well, with all your love and kindness. They leave your arms knowing life is good. THANKS so much for your help!!
Jennifer and her family are a real God-send. We are the recipients of a compassionate family who opened their homes and hearts to homeless doggies in need. Jen is now an intricate part of our rescue organization. She shares her knowledge by speaking in local schools, and for Girl and Boy Scout troops. She has organized fund-raisers for our group. MICHAEL has volunteered his time to incorporate our organization, and we are well on our way to Non-Profit status!! (whew) Jennifer has also recruited her friends into helping us, (no-one is safe... lol). And her family is now the proud owner of a MAS darling doggie called Dolly. Jen has been named the Adoption Coordinator for our group, and I don't know how I ever managed without her. A thousand thanks to you Jennifer!! And your Mom, LORRAINE and HARVEY for helping us out too!! Thanks too for HEATHER, your dog-sitter turned Foster for MAS. KRYSTINE, your neighbor, who fosters for us, and many referrals for furr-ever families.
I would also like to acknowledge the TAPPAN TRANSPORTERS: Sara, Fran, Tom, Billie, Jan, Carly, Emily, you know who you are: Its the time, the gas, the pull fees, renting vans, the sacrifices for all the animals in need of a second chance... without you they would never have that chance. Thanks for all you do.
WENDY & BRIAN you help out when the need is most desperate such as nursing moms, the sick, the injured or just too scared. Your healing touch helps save so many. Also for ordering supplies, planning rescues, and the loan of your vehicle. They also have adopted a few MAS rescues: Puck, Fen, Crom, and a kitty, Janai. Thanks for all your hard work. It doesn't go unnoticed.
DEBBIE for fostering our sweet little Satinka and for driving her all over the area to different vets and specialist for the best price quotes. She wouldn't have made it with out you!! (Debbie has a MAS doggy too!)
I have two wonderful people who have dedicated their time, and their home to helping Cats and Kittens in need. I would like to thank BARBARA and LINDSEY, who each started volunteering for MAS this year. No one understands the plight of cats in a shelter better than us. We have been told..."they don't make it out the door once they arrive". This was not acceptable... they all deserve a chance at life. Cats and Kittens take much longer to place. So many of them are homeless, it can be terribly depressing. The unwavering dedication of these volunteers gives us all hope in a better tomorrow for our feline friends! Lindsey adopted two MAS babies, Brady and Brooks, and Barbara has recently adopted Silk and Satin for herself! Thanks so much!!
I have to thank all the staff at Academy Animal Hospital especially DR. LEWIS. Excellent care, compassion and great friend to animals and people alike.
I also wanted to thank the 'Severna Park Voice' for allowing us to have an article in each publication which highlights an animal in need of a home. Your article has changed the lives of several people for the better, as well as saved the lives of animals.
KUDOS to JULIE who has graciously donated her time, talent, and the supplies needed to make dog fleece toys which we sell at adoption events. She is also a proud dog mom to Ella, a MAS doggie. GIRL SCOUT Troop #1518, Parkville, MD also donated the fleece and made toys for our dogs, and organized a donation night for supplies. Thanks So Much!!
Junior Troop 179 from Columbia MD" made LOTS of braided toys for our animals (helped our animals and the earth - they were made out of Dads' jeans and cords!) Our dogs LOVED them and we are so thankful for their efforts and look forward to an ongoing relationship with them! We would LOVE to say a belated but VERY heartfelt thank you to Julia B. aka HERO, aka Becca's (MAS pit mix) sister for being UNBELIEVABLY generous and requesting only donations to MAS for her birthday. She is just amazing to be SOOO selfless, helpful and compassionate. WHat a gigantic amount of presents she delivered to MAS to help all of our animals. THANK YOU SO MUCH JULIA! You are a lovely human being!!
GOOD NEIGHBORS, a volunteer organization in Anne Arundel County, that donated money and supplies to our group when needed. Thanks seems so inadequate a word...!!
KATHY... you know who you are... We appreciate your donations and your daughter's help in obtaining much needed supplies for all our foster friends. THANKS so much!!! : )
MAS Rescue, Inc. has established a wonderful "animal" relationship with KAREN Decker. She is the director of the MD based P.U.P.S. Obedience School. She has offered to help us help more animals with proper training. Her time and the expertise of her staff is priceless. The amazing changes that have been brought to several animals deemed 'unadoptable' and many so many others who bonded quickly to their new owners because of your sessions, is nothing short of Amazing. She has also very generously allowed adopters from MAS the opportunity to train their recued companions for a deep discount. If interested in classes please visit her webpage: www.pupsdogobediencetraining.com. Thanks Karen!!
And always... to My MOM and my children for always being there, moral support, and all your fostering help!! Recently MOM fostered a litter of seven puppies. I love you so much and appreciate your support always!
So many to thank and only so much room... I hope I haven't missed anyone..
