Our Featured Pets...
Taz (right) and Calvin (left) were adopted from us last year. Through no fault of their own they are back and we are happy to have time with them again. Taz is outrageously outgoing. In Taz's world, there are no strangers. Calvin's view on the world is much different. Cal is a shy cat who wants affection but too timid to give it a try without much encouragement. Isn't it true that opposites attract? We are hoping to find a home that will take both of these cats because Cal seems to need to be with Taz. These two "talk" to each other. One will churtle and the other begins the mischief. Please let us know if you are interested in one or both of these cats.
Homeless Seniors...
Shadow and Sampson are not siblings but they were adopted together 9 years ago. They are both on the shy side but extremely affectionate with their person. Sadly their person just passed away. She loved these cats and would not want them sent to a shelter. Indeed, these two cats would have to compete with all the cute kittens at the shelter so their chances of adoption are extremely small if they are sent to such a facility. Is there anyone out there that can give one or both of these cats a permanent home?

Sadly Mourned...
Max found me at the Anne Arundel SPCA in August, 1998. He was our first rescue. However, instead of us finding Max a new home, he decided to adopt us and he enriched our lives daily. He quickly and unexpectedly departed us on February 15, 2006. He was only 7.5 years old. The emergency vet believed it may have been a clot to the heart. Our vet said Maine coons have a ligament in their heart which is peculiar to the breed. He said it is not uncommon for the ligament to snap. The result is a painless and quick death. There will never be another Max but because of him over 300 maine coons/mixes have been helped. He is also the inspiration for MCRescue and thus it is his legacy. He accomplished so much good work in such a short time. Clicking his photo will take you to his website where I try to describe the MC personality as well as list the ailments they are prone toward.

Who We Are
We are a very small, family-run group specializing in placing maine coon mixes into approved homes. All of our cats are spayed/neutered prior to placement if they are over 6 months old. They are FeLuk/FIV tested and up-to-date on shots. Additionally the cats have been seen by a vet and treated for fleas, ear mites, etc. as necessary. We have no shelter but provide for these cats in our own homes. We are non-profit and survive on donations only. All donations are used to help cover vet costs.
MCRescue is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. This means that any donation you make to help the cats in our foster care is tax deductible. Everyone wins!
Adopting a friend
Our adoption process begins by filing out an application (link is located below). If the application is pursued, the process includes a vet check, rental check (if necessary) and finally a home visit to ensure a match for our rescued cats. The adoption fee is $115 per cat and we do consider multiple-cat discounts.
Application
Our application form is in Microsoft Word and there is no need to sign an electronically-transmitted application. Click here to download. E-mail completed applications, as an attachment, to mainecoon_max@yahoo.com.
Come Visit Us!
McRescue has been fortunate and grown since its beginning in 2004. We now have multiple foster homes. Due to the multiple foster homes, we have found a need to do adoption shows at local Petsmarts. The days and times of the adoption events are posted above. We do hope you can visit our foster babes at these scheduled times. If you would like to expedite the adoption process, you can send your application to us prior to the show you will be attending. We will do everything we can to have the preliminary checks done prior to your visit.
