Who We Are

We are a group of people who have come together working in the shelter and rescue world. We have a combined experience of over 30 years in the animal world. We started by saving dogs from puppy mills and puppy mill auctions, taking the ones that were unwanted, to give them a chance at a loving home which they have never had. We also take in homeless dogs or dogs that are deemed not adoptable by shelters to give them a safe haven where they will receive medical care, nutrition and love until an approved home is found. They are rescued from situations ranging from the lack of care and supervision, starvation and abuse. Luv4K9s wants to reduce the number of unwanted pets by altering all dogs in our re-homing program, to educate the public about the importance of altering pets, and explain that owning a pet is a LIFELONG commitment . Luv4K9s of Dayton, Ohio is run entirely by volunteers. Luv4K9s receives no government support and operates with funds generated by adoption fees, fundraising and generous donations from concerned animal lovers.

Foster Homes Needed

WE ARE REALLY IN NEED OF FOSTERS, IF INTERESTED PLEASE EMAIL US!!!! We are always seeking good foster homes for our dogs. There are more dogs out there that need our help. All the medical fees are paid by our rescue. The only thing you need to provide is the food, a temporary home and lots of love. If you live in Ohio and would like to open your home and your heart to a dog in need, please fill out an application. Donations Needed

If you have anything that you no longer have a need or use for please email us. Monetary donations are always welcome to help us with vet bills, you can always send the money directly to our veterinarian. WE NOW HAVE our 501(c) (3) !! Please Send email to Melanie.

Adopting a friend

Email us for an application to begin the adoption process. Once we receive it back we will review it and get back with you. This could take a couple of days but we will get back with you as soon as we possibly can.

We will adopt out of state but you MUST come here to meet the pet and finalize the adoption in person. Our adoption area is OHIO, KENTUCKY AND INDIANA. WE WILL ALSO CONSIDER CERTAIN AREAS OF MICHIGAN, WEST VIRGINIA AND PENNSYLVANIA. WE DO NOT SHIP NOR ARRANGE TRANSPORTS. Our adoption fee is $200.00 which includes spay/neuter, routine shots, rabies, worming, microchipped, heartworm testing,and they are on monthly preventative.

Some of our dogs come with papers from the original owners. We cannot guarantee the papers we receive on each dog have not been altered. We rely on the honesty of the people we rescue our dogs from.

Remember when you are looking for that special dog to add to your family that rescues and shelters are the best place to start. Do not be taken in by the phrase "Designer Dog" this is just a pretty word for a MUTT

Visit our website www.luv4k9s.com All of our dogs are in foster care in various locations in the Dayton Ohio area. Once you have submitted an application and successfully completed a phone interview or home visit then we can schedule a time for you to meet the dog. MORE DOGS COMING IN WEEKLY, IF WE DO NOT HAVE WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR PLEASE CHECK BACK WITH US.

Events

The second Sunday of each month we will be attending Mingle with the Mutts at the Montgomery Cty Animal Shelter (at the Benchwood/Wyse exit #59 off of 75) from 12-2pm. Stop by and visit us and meet some of our dogs up for adoption.

November 2nd, 12-3pm and the 15th, 11-2pm we will be at Petsmart on Feedwire Rd in Sugarcreek.

November 8th and the 23rd we will be at Moochi and Co. at the Greene from 1-4pm.

November 22nd we will be at Siebenthalers at Far Hills and Whip Rd, in Centerville.

December 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th, 20th and 21st we will be at Petsmart on Feedwire Rd in Sugarcreek for pictures with Santa from 11-4pm, all the proceeds will benefit dogs at LUV4K9S.

News

STARTING JANUARY 1ST OF 2008 WE WILL BE INCREASING OUR ADOPTION FEE TO 200.00 DUE TO THE INCREASING COST OF OUR MEDICAL BILLS. A LOT OF THE DOGS WE DEAL WITH FROM THE PUPPY MILLS REQUIRE LOTS OF MEDICAL ATTENTION WHICH INCLUDE MAJOR DENTALS, REMOVAL OF TUMORS, HERINA, FIXING THE EYES AND LOTS MORE. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR FOSTER HOMES TO HELP WITH THE NEW DOGS WE HAVE TAKEN IN, PLEASE CONTACT US.

We would like to thank all of the families that have adopted our dogs and given them great homes. We would not be able to rescue the dogs that we do if it weren't for people like you that are willing to give these dogs a chance and a home.
