HELP NEEDED!! LPAAR desperately needs adoptive or foster homes for 5 kittens from three litters and for 11 adult cats in order to comply with Lowndes County's Animal Limit ordinance for residential neighborhoods. We have been given a deadline and are unsure what will happen to some of our cats if the limit isn't met. 2009 has been a crisis year for LPAAR due to the large number of cats being abandoned near our feral cat feeding station by people who have chosen to abandon their pets rather than seek help before deciding to dump their beautiful babies. Our funds do not allow us to take so many cats and vet them, sterilize them, vaccinate them, and find them homes. Our foster homes are full and people aren't volunteering to foster. If you can help us by donating for vet care or by fostering ,please contact us ASAP.

The last three years as a PetSmart partner have been great. We look forward to 2009 as another productive year. www.petsmart.com However, we are unable to use PetSmart's adoption center to display our cats as we need volunteers to clean the center twice daily, feed the cats and play with them for a short time each visit. The PetSmart management has offered to cover the morning shifts if LPAAR can find enough volunteers to go each day in the late afternoon. If you can help us, please call Selina at 229-559-5727..

We will resume trapping soon for our TNR program for feral cats. We need donations to help fund this project. The new low-cost spay/neuter clinic in nearby Jennings, FL, has agreed to help. www.northfloridapaws.org

Our outreach program through which we have helped financially needy families by supplying food, vet care, and spay/neuter for their pets is continues to serve 4 families on an ongoing basis. We distribute educational materials on the need for spay/neuter, the inhumanity of tethering dogs, dog and cat training, animal abuse and horrors of dog-fighting,etc. We appreciate all our supporters who have helped us collect and recycle printer and laser toner cartridges and old cell phones and for those who shop online through www.igive.com. Please log on to iGive. Even if you don't buy anything, we get a small contribution for each of the iGive merchant sites you visit. It's a great way to contribute without leaving your home. We received a nice check from United Way this past year. Thank you for making donations in our name

Volunteers, Foster homes and contributions needed!! We need help maintaining our feral colonies. More and more pets are being abandoned near our feral feeding stations. We are taking care of all who come, but our funds are running low. For information:Selina W. Dunworth

Who We Are

Founded in 1999, we are a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation supported entirely by contributions and staffed by a small number of volunteers with BIG hearts. We have a Georgia Dept. of Agriculture Shelter License. We are dedicated to rescuing homeless cats and dogs and educating the public to be responsible pet owners with emphasis on spay/neuter of all companion animals. If you live in the area, we need foster homes desperately. Because we are a "no-kill" rescue, we are unable to rescue additional animals until we find homes for the ones we already have, as we lack qualified foster homes. We are always in need of funds to support the animals already in residence, in order to keep them current on all vaccinations and heartworm and flea preventative. If you can help, please send your contribution to the address below. If you shop online, please consider ordering through www.igive.com, as we get a percentage of the sales from customers listing us as their charity. Thank you!

All adoptions require veterinarian references and home check before approval! Cats are inside only and dogs must have a fenced yard for safety and to comply with local leash laws. We encourage alternatives to declawing because mutilation by amputation is such a drastic and inhumane step.

Adopting a friend

Adoption is a LIFETIME committment.
Fees: Cats $70.00 Dogs: $80.00 Due to increased costs for vet care, we have had to increase our adoption fees slightly. Adoption fees help defray some of the veterinarian expenses of screening for feline leukemia, FIV, or canine heartworms, first vaccinations, deworming, and sterilization, heartworm treatment if positive, wound treatment, etc.. Even with our vet's generous discount our cost for initial vet care is twice our adoption fee. Tax deductible contributions may be sent to the address below. Requests for receipts will be gladly honored. Acknowledgements of gifts in memory of or in honor of a friend or loved one will be sent to both sender and recipient. Foster homes at various locations!
