Who We Are

We are a private, no-kill shelter that functions as a 501c. Our organization is striving to upgrade our facility and support the local stray and abandoned animal population through the generosity of private donors and animal adoptions. We are one of the oldest no-kill shelters on LI and we are struggling to maintain quality services for our animals. Over the past year, we have seen large increases in costs for medications, veterinary care, food and mandatory staff to help keep things running. In addition, we are trying to upgrade our facility when we are lucky enough to have donations that assist us with these projects. Winter is coming and with it, costs for heating. Our shelter is in significant and sustained need of monetary donations, medications, veterinary services, food, amenities for the dogs and cats(baskets, treats, dog blankets, dog risers(sling beds to keep them off the concrete run floors at night etc.) We are trying ever so hard to raise the standards at the shelter, but will not be able to do this without generous support from the public. If ever there was a shelter that needed benefactors, it is ours. If you find it in your heart to give, you can be assured that our animals will be totally grateful. We continue to need repairs and contracting services for electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, landscaping etc. We need new cages, and dog runs, washing machines and dryers. This shelter is being run on love right now (December 2007) and very little money. We continue to desperately require generous support from the public. We love our animals and want to find them good homes. In the meantime, while they reside with us, we would like to raise their quality of life. Please consider our little shelter if you are looking for an animal rescue organization to donate to. There has been a change in the board of directors and we are determined to continue providing the best possible care as a no-kill, compassionate place for furry companions. We hope you will help us maintain and foster optimum conditions for our stray and abandoned friends who cannot advocate for themselves. We cannot do this alone and greatly appreciate those of you out there who recognize and support our ongoing efforts. Our animals, staff and volunteers heartily thank you all for your patronage and support.
