Want to put an animal on hold? Our adoption hold fee is $20.00 Simply call 785-843-6835, provide us with the animal's ID number and a credit card, and we will hold the animal until the end of the next business day. This fee is nonrefundable and does not apply toward the adoption fee or any other fees.
We appreciate your interest in adopting a homeless animal! The Lawrence Humane Society has cats, dogs, rabbits, ferrets, and "hand-held" pets available for adoption. On occasion, we also have birds, horses, and farm animals in need of loving homes.
At the Lawrence Humane Society our goal is to help you find an animal who matches your interests and lifestyle. When you arrive at the shelter, you will be able to meet and interact with the animals and speak to a knowledgeable adoption counselor who will answer questions and help you with your decision.
The Lawrence Humane Society provides shelter, care, and advocacy to stray, homeless, and abused animals and nurtures the human-animal bond.
We are located at 1805 E. 19th St., north of the Douglas County Fairgrounds.
