~ WHO WE ARE ~
We are the LEAGUE FOR ANIMAL PROTECTION OF HUNTINGTON (Dog Program) a nonprofit, all volunteer organization dedicated to the rescue, care and placement of stray and abandoned dogs. Our volunteers work out of a local Town Dog Shelter where we walk, groom/bathe, socialize and behavior/temperament screen the dogs housed at the shelter in an effort to place all the dogs in good, loving, permanent homes. Because new dogs are arriving daily while others are eagerly joining their new adoptive families, those listed on our website are just a representation of the dogs available for adoption and not a complete list. Therefore, we recommend that you contact us so we can introduce you to all of our wonderful dogs. That perfect match is just a phone call--or e-mail--away!!





~ VOLUNTEERING ~
Volunteers are always welcome! Please call if you are interested in joining us in our efforts to help our homeless dogs find loving, permanent homes.

HEART UPDATE:

~ ADOPTING A FRIEND ~
Adopting a shelter dog is a richly rewarding experience that brings joy and companionship into your home. When adopted, all dogs are spayed/neutered before leaving the shelter, without exception! They also receive a rabies vaccination and are NY state licensed. The Shelter fee is $62.50.

Ways To Help MULTIPLIED:
A simple way to help yourself, the environment and a charity of your choice is this: whenever you go for walks with your dog(s) bring lots of plastic bags. Pick up redeemable bottles and cans and put them in bags separate from the non-redeemable bottles and cans that you can bring home and add to your own recyclables. Redeem the bottles and cans and set the money aside. At the end of the year, donate your found money to a worthy cause; you will be amazed how much money is there and how much this simple act can do. Exercise for you and your pooch, cleaning up the environment and making a donation to a cause you believe in...it doesn't get any better than that!
