Due to a lack of shelter space La Honda Mountain Cats Rescue is no longer operating. LHMC founder Barbara is working with Nine Lives Foundation in Redwood City, CA. Thank you to all our adopters and supporters for your years of support. Ray, our last cat, is still looking for his forever home. He will stay with Barbara until he finds it. UPDATE: June 2--Ray has found his forever home with Janice. Happy life Sweet Boy, I miss you.
Welcome to Cavy House Rescue. We are a small, home-based rescue. We rescue guinea pigs, and a few other types from shelters who have run out of time and give them whatever veterinary care, TLC and preparation they need to make them great pets. We place them into loving, forever homes.

Guinea Pig Adoption Appointments
Weekend adoption appointments can be made to meet our guinea pigs at our rescue in La Honda.
Local shelters were filling up with many unlucky pets who were being dumped for the holidays. Thankfully, many are finding homes but still more are coming in. You can check with us, Petfinder.com and PetHarbor.com for guinea pigs in need of homes.

Guinea Pig Boarding
Cavy House is now boarding guinea pigs . The proceeds go to help our guinea pig rescue, as adoption fees do not cover expenses. Boarding fees have made some of our surgeries for the piggies possible.
One guinea pig: $8/day; $50/week, $100/2 weeks
Two guinea pigs sharing a cage. $10/day, $65/1 week; $120/2 weeks.
Please Note: We don't normally "hold" guinea pigs for potential adopters because often times people will change their minds about which piggies they want when they get here or find something else in-between, which sometimes means we will lose an adoption to someone else who wanted those piggies. Our priority is trying to find a home for every piggy in the shelters and when we lose an adoption, it can mean some shelter piggy not getting out that could have. However, we will do our best to keep you updated.
