Pet Connection
ABOUT PET CONNECTION
Pet Connection is ran by volunteers. We pull animals from high kill shelters in Kentucky, Ohio and sometimes other states. If you would like to adopt one of our pets please look at our list of adoptable animals and then fill out our online application. The application will be sent to the foster home, after review the foster home will call or email you to set up a time for you to visit the pet. You will hear something within 1-2 days, we update our Petfinder site daily so you will see an up dated list of adoptable pets. Since our pets are kept in foster homes you will have to set up a time with the foster parent to meet the pet.
ABOUT OUR ADOPTION FEE'S
Basic Adoption fee for a healthy pet covers, pull fee from shelter, getting the pet upto date on shots, spay and neuter, deworming and frontline. In the case of a sick pet the fee covers the care of the pet while we have them in our care, this maybe treatment for Kennel Cough, Coccidia, Parvo, x-rays, mange treatment or other vetting needs. If your pet is adopted before he is spayed/neutered then you will sign a contract and agree to take them to the Highland Hights Animal hospital by the date given at time of adoption. You will be sent home with a voucher for the cost of the spay/neuter cost.
Recently someone asked, "Why would you charge $50 for one rescue pet, and $250 for another? Why not just place it in a good home?" The answer is because we need adopters who are willing to support all rescue pets, not just the dog they adopt. A young, healthy dog might cost us $150-200 in vet care, and many people will want to adopt it. An older one with health issues can easily cost $500-1500 in veterinary expenses, and it may require months of foster care for rehabilitation; yet we can only ask a minimal adoption fee, and it may be a long time until anyone comes forward to adopt it. Fees from the younger, more adoptable dogs help offset the cost of caring for the others. Most of our dogs have a sad story to tell, and some have suffered through years of neglect or abuse. We hope that you too are willing to give an opportunity for a better life to ALL of our dogs by supporting them through adoption fees. Without these funds, our rescue efforts would not be possible."
When you Adopt a Pet Connection pet you will be sent home with an Adoption Agreement, Pet Connection Shot Record, If your pet has not been spayed/neutered at the time of adoption you will recieve a Pet Connection Spay/Neuter Voucher, some pets are sent home with an extra Deworming, and sometimes Meds. If you have any problems with your new pet please email us and inform us of the problem. We can only help if we know of the problem, we may send out meds or have you bring the pet back to us for treatment.
