!

There is a DONATION BIN beside grooming at the PETCO IN HERMITAGE by the cash registers. We welcome your donations to help the dogs in the rescue and from the shelter. We welcome Petco or any other gift cards including gas gift cards :) PLEASE bring TOYS, BEDS, KENNELS (IN OR OUTDOOR-or call and we can pick them up), LEASHES, COLLARS, FRONTLINE, ADVANTAGE, BULLY STICKS (no rawhides, greenies or cow hooves please as they may splinter and swell), DOG BRUSHES, GIFT CARDS, CANNED DOG FOOD ETC TO HELP A DOG IN NEED -New or gently used is fine! IF YOU'D LIKE TO GIVE A MONETARY DONATION THEY ARE WELCOME AND TAX DEDUCTIBLE OF COURSE YOU MAY OF COURSE PURCHASE PRODUCTS AT PETCO OR BRING YOUR OWN FROM ELSEWHERE. THANK YOU FOR HELPING ALL THE DOGS THAT WOULD OTHERWISE BE PUT TO SLEEP IN THE SHELTERS!!!

If you are interested in a dog during the week the quickest way to find out about them is to email instead of calling! On the weekend come visit us at Petco in Hermitage from 2:30-5:30PM. Sorry but we are full as far as taking in medium and large dogs. Unless we are able to find reliable fosters that will see them through should they come back we will only be able to rescue smaller dogs. The fosters we currently have have medium- large dogs so no one has room. We also have some we've had since Feb. 2009.
If you know anyone that installs fences or storage barns please let us know :) If you see a "COURTESY" or "FOSTER please" by a dog that means they are for adoption but need a foster that they most likely are in a high kill shelter. Shelters bring dogs each weekend to the adoption events! The dogs from the many shelters we help need YOU to foster them if they aren't adopted, but only if you can see them all the way through til they get their always home! It's not good for them to get a foster only for them not to work out. All are up to date on health needs! Without your fostering them we can't save their lives! If you see COURTESY by a dog this means it's a courtesy listing we are listing most likely for an individual. We are helping the people by listing the dog and possibly doing the paperwork but the dog is NOT part of Kimber's Kritters. Please be sure your ready to start before we take time, gas and most importantly pull a dog from the shelter for you to foster. When you commit to fostering the dog we commit to pulling another dog from the shelter. When you decide you can't foster then unless we have an available foster we can't take the new dog we've now commited to. That is NOT a good thing in a kill shelter! It means the dog we said we'd take will most likely be put to sleep if the shelter is full! We need PERMANENT fosters that will at least see the dog they are fostering through as we've pulled a dog in that dogs place!
Thanks for adopting the dogs shelters bring. You are saving a LIFE! Some dogs are brought the next week or numerous weeks depending on the shelters space.

We are totally no kill! The ones we keep in fosters homes would be euthanized without us having fosters to foster them and people adopting them. 100% of the dogs we take in were out of time! Many lives have been saved! More fosters means more lives you can save so spread the word please! Dogs in shelters are our main priority. Space permitting we take in from the public or let them bring their pet to our adoption events while they foster the dog!

Adoption fee's lowered to below our vetting costs. If you think the adoption fee's are high please call a vet and ask the price to spay/neuter, heartworm test, deworm, DHAPP, Bordatella, Rabies, Interceptor, Frontline and many times antibiotics etc. Price a dental also!!

URGENT:

If you need tax write offs please consider donating to our rescue. We take in many elderly, medically needy and Pit Bulls that others have passed by. We have huge vet bills as we are 100% NO Kill! !
IF ANYONE HAS FENCING (ANY TYPE), KENNELS, DOG CRATES WE COULD USE THEM. WE NEED FENCING, CRATES, AND KENNELS FOR FOSTERS!!! Will purchase or donations would be great--

FOSTERS NEEDED TO SAVE LIVES! SAVE A LIFE- WE PROVIDE FOOD AND EVERYTHING. You just provide the love and safe environment!!

The quickest way to reach us if via email as the cell phone does not work in our building at work. If you call please only call once and leave a message. We don't do cat rescue- sorry :( Many are calling 2 + times as the machine only holds so many calls. Calls are checked late in the day. Emails are checked at about 1:00 PM, 5:00 PM and 11 PM. Email is the QUICKEST way to get a response as the cell always does not work in the rural area's we are usually in :)

PENDING on a dog means there is an application on them. Please still email about a pending dog as that doesn't mean the adoption will go through on our end. When the adoption is finalized the dog is removed.
****ATTENTION VOLUNTEERS & FOSTERS:***** Thank you for all the dogs lives YOU'VE saved by volunteering and fostering!!! You've opened your hearts and homes to those that would have otherwise been put to sleep! Without you they wouldn't have a chance! We always need more fosters so please tell your friends and co-workers!! The pay monetarily is $0 (except a tax write off for mileage), but the reward is you've saved lives that would have otherwise been put to sleep!

AS ALWAYS ALL THE SHELTERS THAT WE LET BRING DOGS TO OUR EVENT HAVE GIVEN VACCINES AT LEAST A WEEK PRIOR TO COMING IN THE STORE. IN MANY CASES THEY'VE HAD MORE THAN ONE DHAPP!

↓ ATTENTION ↓

We help when puppy mill dogs come into shelters. Many need medical care sure as mammary tumor removal, eye removal, have eye ulcers from hair matted over eyes, teeth removed, dentals and of course traditional vetting such as spay, neuter, vaccines, heartworm test , deworm etc. We can always use wire kennels for fosters! If you'd like to donate you can mail a check to : PO Box 41401 Nashville TN 37204 or click the paypal button on the page. Thank you for any help!

Kimber's Kritters Dog & Exotic Animal Rescue- Rehab

Who We Are

Kimber's Kritters is a charitable nonprofit 501(c)(3) that is truly No-Kill Animal Rescue with large goals. We receive no government grants nor corporate sponsorships although we welcome them with open arms! We don't discriminate taking a dog in due to age, breed or medical condition space permitting! Our mission is to help the shelter dog that can't help his or herself. We help owners that will foster their dogs space permitting. We rely adoption fee's and donations to pay the medical bills and take care of the dogs in our foster parent's care. Since we all work we've not had time to do a fundraiser. The donations have been slim. The shelters say we take the "bottom of the barrell" as we truly take the dogs that no one has adopted, and no rescue speaks up for. We rescued exotics for years and then started rescuing dogs after taking in some puppymill dogs back in 2000 from a very bad mill in TN. We used to go to a shelter and say we'll take this or that one. We felt as if we were playing God so told the shelters let me know when they have no other way! They end up being the best though! We are shelterless and rely on fosters to help save dogs being put to sleep by housing them. We are located in Shelbyville, TN, but are in Nashville several times a week due to work and homeschooling. Our main mission is to help the shelter dogs that can't help themselves that are about to be put to sleep. When no one else wants the dogs and the shelters are full they call us prior to putting them to sleep. We get dogs from very high kill shelters. We take dogs from the general public space permitting but shelters are our priority!. We totally depend on our volunteers & fosters as there are No paid employee's. We need YOU to foster by opening your home to a dog we've saved, quarantined and that is ready for YOUR love and help to find his/her fairy tale home!! You get a tax write off for the gas etc. We furnish the food, medical, crate, toys..you furnish the house, love and safe environment. YOU are the most IMPORTANT aspect of THIS rescue besides the dog of course! Without fosters we can't pull the dogs out of the shelter being put to sleep!

Future Plans & Goals

If you can help with fundraising, grantwriting, land etc please contact us...... Our dream is to build a rescue/sanctuary in Tennessee preferably on the outskirts of Nashville. We helped one of the first 501(c)(3)'s in the south with cruelty and would be able to do this more. We have the knowledge to have the center but not the funds! "Together we can make a difference for the animals" We are doing the same thing in SC in a city where this is no shelter. We hope to raise funds to build a facility that will be a huge rescue, rehab, sanctuary and education center in SC also.

Adoption Fee's & Process

When you adopt a pet from Kimber's Kritters you : 1. Email for an Adoption application/contract and fill it out. 2. If you rent we will have to make sure its okay for your to adopt with your landlord. 3.If approved for your new pet we will do a home check at some point of you adopting the pet! We sometimes do it before and sometimes after:) The adoption fee's vary on each dog usually $175 as we use our vet for spays instead of a spay/neuter clinic as many of these dogs were in drop pens and coud have mated. Our vet is the besty but is higher than the low cost spayneuter clinics. A dog might be $250 if she/he has had a dental, transportation fee's from a kill shelter etc. We do whatever it takes to make the dog healthy no matter what the age!

A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS 1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful. 2. Give me time to understand what you want of me. 3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being. 4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainments, but I have only you. 5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me. 6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it. 7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you. 8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak. 9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old. 10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so. ~Take a moment today to thank God for your pets. Enjoy and take good care of them. Life would be a much duller, less joyful experience without God's critters~ Now please pass this on to other pet owners. We do not have to wait for Heaven, to be surrounded by hope, love, and joyfulness. It is here on earth and has four legs!

Cat Adoptions

We do not rescue cats as we are allergic to them :-( We highly recommend The Privileged Pet cat adoption agency! Here is a link to the adoptable cats at the rescue. There is a small adoption fee, as she gets cats from high kill shelters where their time is up. Please contact them for more information!
