Sadie the Great Dane

She is about one and a half years old now and has had a very hard go of it. She was just skin and bones at the Cleburne animal shelter when the Animal Control officer, Nikki, took her home until a rescue could pick her up.

Johnson County Humane Society stepped up and took Sadie on but it has been a bumpy road for this poor girl. Aside from being skin and bones, she had worms and parasites so bad they almost killed her, then to top her luck, she tested positive for heartworms and so she was treated for that, too. In what should have been a happy ending she was adopted, but unfortunately, the family that took her home had to bring her back due to a tumor that had begun growing on her breast. They could not afford the surgery to remove the rapidly growing tumor on their own.

JCHS worked out a deal with a great vet to save this poor girl and she is on the road to recovery. She doesn’t even realize what she’s been through- she’s still the same sweet, playful, loving dog she was… but now with an incision from her armpit to her groin! We need your help to raise money to pay the bill. If everyone gave only $5 we could have it paid off in no time, can you help us? We have setup a Paypal account just for her, please tell everyone you know and help us help Sadie!

All Cat-Lover Hearts Are On: Mia!

Mia is about 14-16 months old. She is a very affectionate but still loves to play with feather toys. Mia has very short hair and does not shed much at all. Mia ended up being pregnant and homeless some reason. Mia gave birth to six tabby babies, and they have all found homes. She then raised three more little orphan kittens! They are all getting older and will be ready for adoption soon. Mia is finished raising babies and would love a home of her own. We think Mia might good with dogs as long as they are kind and gentle with her. We are not sure about cats, it is hard to tell, but for now she is being a good mother and protecting her babies. If you are interested in Mia please call (817) 774-7006 or send an e-mail to Lisa at lisamtucker@yahoo.com

All Dog-Lover Hearts Are On: Jerry!

Hi, I’m Jerry! I am a beautiful Black Lab of 1 ½ years old. I am looking for a forever home where I will be loved and cherished for the rest of my days. I hope to never know the inside of a shelter again, so I have worked very hard on my puppy training. My hard work has paid off, too! I am very polite when you open the door and I refrain from chewing, counter-surfing, and other naughty puppy activities. I have not had any accidents in the house in a very long time! My foster family says they are very proud of my incredible progress; in just two months, I have learned so much. I get along great with other dogs, and I love trips to the dog park. I even come when I am called! At home, I like to protect my foster family from new people, but once I know the visitors are okay, I’ll shower them with kisses and love, too! If you have room in your heart and home for a new best friend, please call about me today! Please call my Foster Dad, Mark, at (817) 233-8781
