What if IGCA rescue earned a penny every time you searched the Internet? Well, now we can!
GoodSearch.com is a new search engine that donates half its revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. You use it just as you would any search engine, and it's powered by Yahoo!, so you get great results.
Just go to www.goodsearch.com and be sure to enter ITALIAN GREYHOUND RESCUE FUND as the charity you want to support. Just 500 of us searching four times a day will raise about $7300 in a year without anyone spending a dime! Be sure to spread the word!!
To make www.goodsearch.com your homepage on Internet Explorer takes only a few easy steps. First, open your Internet Explorer and pull up the www.goodsearch.com page. Then, on your toolbar look for Tools, click on Tools and select Internet Options from the drop down menu, that page should open on the General Tab. Under the Home Page option select Current Page. Finally, click on Apply, then OK, and you're all set!
If you have some time available to give to these little guys, then we want you! Whatever time you can spare will be greatly appreciated. No experience? No problem! We'll show you the ropes and make it easy to volunteer. Please see below to contact the Representative in your area.
Rescue is a service provided for Italian Greyhounds that have been abandoned at animal shelters, taken from abusive homes, or surrendered to Rescue due to the death or divorce of the former owner. Occasionally, dogs are turned over to Rescue because the owner can no longer keep the dog and the dog was acquired from a source to which it cannot be returned.
IG Rescue members foster these orphans in their homes, where their health and temperament are evaluated, so that they can be placed in a home suitable to both the dog and new owners. Before being placed all dogs are taken for a veterinary check-up where vaccinations are updated, the animal is neutered or spayed, any serious medical conditions are treated, and if necessary, their teeth are cleaned. Each Italian Greyhound can potentially cost Rescue hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars to rehabilitate. All members of Italian Greyhound Rescue, from the board of directors to your local representatives, are strictly volunteers, and do not receive any compensation for their services.
The process to become approved for adoption includes an application, phone interview, and home visit. Once you are approved, and if one of the fosters fits your lifestyle and needs, as determined by the home visit, we will put you in touch with the foster home where you can go to visit the dog. If we don't have a fit, we will put you on a matching list.
The adoption fee is a donation of $250. These fees are sent to the Italian Greyhound Rescue Fund to offset the cost of medical expenses of the dog being placed, and provide medical care for future rescue dogs.
