Houston Eskie Rescue

With much sadness and regret, we must announce the closure of Houston Eskimo Rescue. We been operating since 2000, and have saved hundreds of Eskies during this time. However, resources been depleted, and our housing/boarding situation for rescue dogs is not viable anymore. We are not able to rescue or take in dogs needing rescue anymore.

Houston Eskie Rescue (HER) is an all volunteer, fostering organization dedicated to the rescue and re-homing of American Eskimo Dogs and American Eskimo Dog mixes . HER works in cooperation with the national American Eskimo Dog rescue organization, Heart Bandits, and employs their strict guidelines for all adoptions. We require that all adopting families consistently provide their dogs with annual health exams, heartworm and other parasite preventative and treatment, as well as general medical treatment as needed.

We have about a dozen ‘special needs’ babies that need to be dispersed/liquidated by the end of March – we will be posting these for your fostering/adoption consideration. Some are eskies, some are mixes, some are other breeds – but all are in desperate need. Although perhaps scratched and dented by their former lives, they are ‘good dogs waiting to happen’.

Prior to adoption, adopting families must complete the Adoption Applications before meeting any dogs available for adoption; and require veterinarian or other credible references, a home check, and an adoption interview to determine the suitability of the family and dog. The adopting family must also sign/witness an Adoption Agreement which details the conditions of any adoption and the conditions under which the dog must live.

If for any reason the adopting family cannot keep a dog adopted from Heart Bandits, the dog must be returned to Heart Bandits and may not be given, sold, abandoned, or surrendered to any other facility.
