Our Mission

We are ALWAYS in need of supplies! Please consider making a donation today. Bleach, stainless steal bowls, paper towels, canned dog and cat food, gently used (or new) collars and leashes, toys, crates and carriers, towels, blankets, etc. Please contact us at helpinghandspetrescue@gmail.com if you have any of these supplies. Thank you!

In 2012, Helping Hands Pet Rescue, Inc. adopted out a total of 846 dogs and cats! Of those 846 animals, 414 were dogs and 432 were cats. All animals were spayed/neutered prior to adoption. In 2012, Helping Hands pulled 528 animals from Alachua County Animal Services.

Helping Hands Pet Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Our mission is to save the lives of and re-home unwanted companion animals while promoting spay/neuter and responsible pet ownership. We work with a large network of volunteers and foster homes. We also have a small kennel facility.

Adoption Policy

The first step to adopting a pet from Helping Hands is to send us an email about that particular pet. We can be reached at helpinghandspetrescue@gmail.com.

Adoptions are done on a first-come-first-served basis unless you have an approved adoption application on file. Adoption applications are sent to you via email after your initial inquiry.

Once the adoption application is approved, we will do our best to schedule a meeting/adoption during the week. Unfortunately, this is not always possible and we may have you come to our next adoption event (every Saturday) at Petsmart.

Some dogs do require a "home visit." Keep in mind that the home visit is not to judge you but to make sure the environment is safe for that particular animal. Some of the dogs that come into our rescue are escape artists. Some do not get along with other animals. A home visit gives us the opportunity to point out areas that may be problematic...or to help you with
