Halfway Home Rescue Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of abused, abandoned, and homeless animals and providing a safe haven for these animals until a permanent home can be found. While in our care, these animals are examined by a veterinarian and given proper medical attention (including spay/neuter). Animals deemed “un-adoptable” become a part of our sanctuary and live out their natural lives under the care of volunteers and trusted veterinarians at Halfway Home Rescue Inc. We also provide trap/neuter/return services for feral cats in New Haven County, Connecticut.
Halfway Home Rescue is comprised of a very small group of volunteers dedicated to making a difference. We operate 100% on private donations. While our primary focus has been on cats, in the last few years we have branched out to rescue dozens of dogs, small animals (rabbits, ferrets, etc), exotic animals (chinchillas, hedgehogs, etc), and even several horses (including off-track thoroughbreds).
In 2008, over 900 animals passed through Halfway Home Rescue Inc. on their way to forever homes or back to their feral colonies as part of a Trap/Neuter/Return program!

Adopting a friend
All of the animals currently residing at Halfway Home Rescue, Inc. have been examined by a veterinarian, spayed or neutered, tested for FeLV/FIV, and are up to date with vaccinations, PRIOR TO ADOPTION. Each has been treated for fleas, worms, and ear mites as needed. The animals that come to us have suffered lives of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. We do not have any knowledge of their history prior to entry into HHR. We DO NOT take in people's pets. Our goal is to place each animal in a home that most suits its needs.
Please email us for an adoption application. The application is also available on our website www.halfwayhomeonline.com. This will need to be completed before any visit to our shelter. Once completed, we will set up an appointed time for you to meet each of our animals looking for homes. If a match is made, you will fill out an adoption contract and receive all of the medical papers for your new pet. We request an adoption donation of $150 for kittens, $125 adoption donation per cat (under 5 yrs old) and $75 donation per cat 5 years and older to help defray veterinary expenses. Donations for dogs vary per animal.
