OUR STORY

The Homeless Animal Adoption League (HAAL) was originally formed as the East Orange Animal League in 1989 by citizens concerned about conditions in the East Orange Pound. The league was incorporated as the Homeless Animal Adoption League in 1995.

When the East Orange pound closed, the league set up temporary residence in Bloomfield to find homes for the remaining East Orange cats. That temporary residence has become a home for homeless, abandoned and abused cats for the past 13 years.

OUR WORK

All cats up for adoption have their vaccinations, including Rabies if over four months old. Cats are also tested for FIV (Feline AIDS) and FeLV (Feline Leukemia) and if of appropriate age, are spayed and neutered.

Most importantly our cats are showered with love and allowed out of their cages to run free and socialize with both their feline and human friends. They are also visited several times a week by two friendly canines so that they can get used to their doggy friends as well.
