Gamboa Guinea Guardians
Poor Buddy
Buddy is suffering from severe case of mites. If you click on his picture you will see another picture of him without his bandage on. The wounds you see are self-inflicted because of the scratching. I have wrapped his midsection to prevent further wounds. This is an example of what mites can do if they go untreated. It really breaks my heart to see this because it is so preventable. Buddy’s previous owners did not care enough to help him. They drop him off at a shelter in this condition. Buddy will be here for some time while he recovers from this neglect. Any donations to help with Buddy’s care are really appreciated.
Update: Buddy is making a slow recovery but he is recovering. I want to thank everyone who has made a donation to help with his care. Your donations have helped pay for his medications and general care. Thanks again!
4/14/05- I have some sad news. Buddy has been very ill with a URI. The good news is that he is recovering well with proper medical attention. As you can see from the picture below Buddy's wounds have healed up nicely. Click on the picture below to see some more updated pictures. Thanks again to all those who have donated to help Buddy.
Who We Are
The purpose of Gamboa Guinea Guardians is to give unloved abandoned guinea pigs a second chance at a good forever home. There are so many guinea pigs without homes in shelters and rescues everywhere. That is why it is so important that you adopt a guinea pig. When you buy a guinea pig from a pet store you are supporting the problem. Please be sure to check all of the your local shelters and rescues in your area and save a homeless guinea pig.
Surrendering your guinea pig
If you find yourself in a position where you can no longer keep your guinea pig please think of other options before surrendering them. Please don’t dump them in a forest preserve as that is a death sentence for your piggy.
Space is limited and openings are offered to local shelters and animal controls before I except owner give ups. If I do not have space available I will still try to help you place them. Contact me if you find yourself in this position
Adopting a friend
If you are interested in adopting a guinea pig from Gamboa Guinea Guardians just send an email to LuvGamboa@aol.com. I will send you an adoption request form to get things started. Please note that you must be at least 18 years or older to adopt. I don’t respond to emails from children. So please have your parent contact me by email or by phone.
Help us help them
If you would like to make a donation…please do! They are needed! Currently everything comes out of my own pocket and from adoptions fees. Your donation will help with food, bedding, medical bills, and medicine.. Anything helps.
Thank you for your donation it really makes a difference.
