Why Adopt a Black Greyhound You Ask???
10. You will save money on a Halloween costume for your Black Greyhound!
9. Black Greyhounds match any décor and never go out of style!
8. Black greyhounds can be easily found in the Florida sand, or snow if you relocate to a place where you actually get snow!
7. Everyone knows black is a thinning color so a Black Greyhound can make you look thinner when standing by your side (which is their favorite place to be)!
6. Black greyhounds never look dirty!
5. A lint brush is not required if you are going to a black-tie affair!
4. Black Greyhounds are like onyx, a beautiful gem!
3. Black Greyhounds don’t care what color you are!
2. Black is the new GREEN and green is the way to go these days (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle)!
And the Number 1 reason to adopt a BLACK GREYHOUND. . . Love knows no color and Black Greyhounds are just as wonderful, loyal, and loving as their other counterparts so call the Ranch to meet Whistle and the other black beauties we have who are also waiting for their forever homes.
In Memory of Apache
It is with heavy hearts that we inform you that Apache passed away in April of 2008. Apache had just been diagnosed with Ehrlichia Canis, a type of bacterial tick-borne disease, which is curable but Apache was not able to withstand the steroidal treatment he was given. Apache is now waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge but until we see him again, we will not forget how wonderful he was and we will miss him always.
Why Adopt from the Greyhound Ranch?
There really are valid and important reasons to adopt from Greyhound Ranch Adoptions instead of other adoption groups. At the Ranch, our number one goal is to place our greyhounds into homes that are so right for our greyhounds, that there is very little chance that you will not be totally thrilled that you adopted from us and that you would not dream of returning your greyhound. As a result of this, we make every effort that we can think of to make sure that you find the greyhound that is just right for you and your lifestyle. If you have another pet, we make sure the greyhound you bring home likes your pet almost as much as you do (in as much as that is possible!). If you want a greyhound who loves to play, we make sure the greyhound you pick out is almost always ready to engage you in your playing efforts. If you want a greyhound who is lovey dovey, we make every effort to help you pick out a greyhound who loves to give and receive lots of hugs and kisses. In essence, we want you to be happy as happy as possible with the greyhound of your choosing and we do all that we can to make sure that you are. We do not force you to take a greyhound from us whether or not you bond with that particular greyhound. We want you and your greyhound to feel that you are a perfect match. It's as simple as that.
And as much as it may hurt us to find that some greyhounds are hard to place, we keep all greyhounds until they are adopted out. No matter how long they end up residing with us and patiently waiting for the right person to take them home.
So if you want to adopt a greyhound, or think you may want to adopt a greyhound but aren't totally sure, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to answer your questions and find the right companion for you. Because after all, the more of these gentle, loveable creatures we can help, the better it is for everyone.

Pet Oral Hygiene Solution
Our Pet Oral Hygiene Solution with Oxygene® is the most effective remedy for "pet breath" you'll find! We all love our pets, but the fact is their breath is sometimes downright unpleasant. And more importantly, the microorganisms that cause bad breath and periodontal disease can actually shorten your dog's or cat's lifespan.
Just a capful of Oxyfresh Pet Oral Hygiene Solution with Oxygene® in your pet's water bowl and your pet will have "up close" fresh breath every day!
Non-toxic and safe, Pet Oral Hygiene Solution with Oxygene® not only controls the bacteria that cause bad breath in pets; regular use can actually help your pet live a longer, healthier life by slowing the progression of periodontal disease.
Periodontal disease has been called the "silent killer of pets", and proper oral health care may actually extend the life of your pet by 2 to 5 years. It's estimated that 80% of dogs and 70% of cats over the age of 3 suffer from periodontal disease, a serious deterioration of the gums and supporting bones of the teeth. Left unchecked, resulting bacteria can enter your pet's bloodstream, causing infection or damage to vital organs such as kidneys, lungs, heart, or liver.
Oxyfresh offers simple, effective oral hygiene for your pet starting with Pet Oral Hygiene Solution with Oxygene®!

Winter Coats: Light-weight Fleece Coats Designed for Greyhounds
Greyhound Ranch Adoptions has a fantastic supply of fleece coats designed for Greyhounds. The light-weight fleece is ideal for Florida Greyhounds. The beautifully made coats are handcrafted by one of our volunteers who is also a fellow Greyhound lover and the greyhound modeling the coats belongs to her daughter, who is also one of our volunteers.
The coats come in a variety of colors and patterns and sell for $24 for smaller coats and $28 for larger coats. The coats can also be shipped directly to you for an additional $6 each.
Coat Design Features
All of our coats are made of light-weight fleece which is machine washable, extra soft, and warm enough to keep your dog cozy on cold days. The coats also have a mock turtleneck and a velcro band which attaches under the belly to keep the coat on your dog. The coats also provide extra warmth by slightly draping over the tail.
Custom Orders
Custom ordered coats are available upon request but an additional charge may apply. Please contact Leslie Woliner for special order arrangements and a price quote.
To purchase any of these items, please contact Leslie at the Ranch at 407/804-5257, by cell at 407/461-7379, or by email at greyhoundranchfl@earthlink.net.

How You Can Get Involved and Help the Ranch Find Permanent Homes For the Regal Greyhounds
Spend a Few Hours as a Volunteer at a Meet & Greet
The Ranch is always in need of volunteers for weekend Meet & Greets in Orange and Seminole County. Most activities occur from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Just let us know what works best for your schedule and you can be a guardian angel of a Greyhound for the day! Several community events are being held in 2006 that we are participating in and we need many extra volunteers to leash-hold Greyhounds. If you are interested, please contact Leslie at the Ranch at 407/804-5257, by cell at 407/461-7379, or by email at greyhoundranchfl@earthlink.net.

Adopt a Forever Friend
So you want to adopt a Greyhound? Here are some Ranch guidelines to assist you.
All Greyhound placements are on a first-come, first-reserved basis.
All Greyhounds are adopted by application only and the adopting family must agree that the Greyhound will be an indoor pet as Greyhounds are not suited for a life outdoors or chained to a leash.
At the time of adoption, all Greyhounds (except for puppies) are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested for heartworms, micro-chipped, have had their teeth cleaned and their toenails trimmed. A small adoption fee is therefore charged to cover the cost of these services.
All Greyhounds are on "Frontline" and come with a leash, collar, micro-chip information, and a booklet full of information to help you care for your Greyhound.
All Greyhounds are crate trained and they can be easily housetrained.
If you have a specific greyt dog in mind, make an appointment to see the Greyhound at the Ranchs next Meet & Greet where you can:
^ Complete an application Click here to access the GRA Greyhound application form
^ Pay a deposit to reserve a Greyhound which will be applied towards the adoption fee
^ Schedule a home visit where an adoption contract will be signed (all household members, including other pets, must be present)
If the Greyhound is to be adopted by a family, please remember that children must be at least 8 years of age
The Ranch is committed to each dog in the program for its entire life. Therefore, if there is ever a need to give up your Greyhound, it must be returned to the Ranch.
Although though the Ranch prefers placement within a 70 mile radius of Longwood, Florida, the Ranch will work with other adoption groups to provide placement of a dog outside of the Central Florida area
Even though all Greyhounds are greyt and the Ranch has many Greyhounds to choose from, you may identify the characteristics of the Greyhound you want and we will search through our vast network of adoption groups for an ideal match. Once a Greyhound is located, a representative will contact you to schedule a home visit with the Greyhound you have selected. An adoption contract will then be completed at the time of placement.

Our Special Volunteers
The Ranch makes every effort to ensure that your new greyhound will get along with your other pets. To help the Ranch determine if a greyhound is "cat friendly," Brittany and Brianna meet every greyhound brought to the Ranch so an assessment can be made of the greyhound's reaction to the kitty cats. Brittany and Brianna are more than happy to help out, and actually enjoy spending time with their own greyhounds, Tally and Tyler!
