Happy 2013! Anyone that has adopted a cat from Grand Paws in the past, can adopt another cat for FREE.

Who We Are

Grand Paws is a small privately owned rescue. It was started because of a stray cat I found one freezing night huddled up against a fence of one of my horse pastures. A few nails on each foot had been ripped out and were still bleeding. He had a puncture wound on the bottom of one paw that bled with every limping step. I was scared to pick him up he looked so bad. I talked to him and he followed me the 200 feet to my horse barn where he spent the night in the feed room. My husband named him "Grandpa" because he moved so slow. We found out later that he also had 3 small bullets in him, had heartworm, and diabetes. Being in this horrible condition and obviously having been abused, you would think that he would have been mean or scared, yet the very opposite was true-he was extremely trusting and friendly. I realized there were more out there that needed help that were just like him....other Grand Paws. "Grandpa" passed away on 10-15-08. He was 19 years old. He is buried where I found him all those years ago... against that fence. A statue of a cat lying down is all that marks the spot.

Adopting a friend

Vet reference required before beginning the adoption process. All cats adopted from Grand Paws must be kept inside only and cannot be declawed. If at any time you are no longer able to keep your adopted cat, it must be returned to us and your adoption fee will be refunded. All cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and tested for FIV and Leukemia before they are adopted out. Please don't overlook older cats. They need love and a home of their own too. Most cats are living into their late teens. You don't need to get an 8 week old kitten to have a long happy life with your new friend. Mature cats will bond with you just as fast, if not faster than kittens will.

Come Visit Us!

We are located 45 minutes West of Gainesville in the town of Bell. We do not have set visiting hours but are available most days and times to show you the cats for adoption.
