Bert is looking for his forever family

Hi Everyone, I've been here a while now and I'm starting to wonder why my other friends have all found homes and no one has come for me :( I know my forever home is out there somewhere, please give me a chance, i am so sweet don't let my handsome looks deceive you I'm one big sweetie underneath this handsome exterior!

Many of the volunteers here brush me and walk me on leash to help me learn good manners, I'm eager to meet new friends and they tell me what it's like on the outside it sounds great but i'd really like to experience it for myself. Kisses from me are free and endless... i'm a snuggly teddybear, and so desperately would love someone to call my own, won't you please come and meet me... i swear i'll give you a kiss and whisper sweet nothings in your ear :) I'm about 11 months old now and weigh about 55 pounds. Hi Everyone, My name is Bert, i love to play and would make a great...

All GoodDogs are adopted out with their first vaccinations, de-flead, de-wormed, microchipped, so if they ever get lost they can get home and neutered or spayed.

Foster Families Needed

Bringing a dog who has no home into your loving environment is great stepping stone in helping that dog find their forever family. Not everyone has the lifestyle or home equipped to take in a foster dog. The majority of dogs in rescue have been abused or neglected and need patience and understanding when brought into your home. Expect some potty training to take place as for many dogs this is their first opportunity to spend time inside a home.

At Good Dog Rescue we will strive to make the best possible foster match with your living space and lifestyle but we are not infallible and emergencies will arise where a dog may need a special place while we find a better foster fit for them.

If you are dedicated to helping a homeless dog find a home and have room in your home, life and heart; Please consider fostering.

The foster experience can be trying at times but few things in life are more rewarding than the day your foster dog goes home to their forever family.

Please email us for your foster application and you will be on your way to giving a homeless dog a loving place to stay while waiting for their Forever Family.

Who we are

Good Dog Rescue is a group of dedicated volunteers looking to find Forever Families for dogs in need. We take in all breeds of dogs and work with them until they are adoptable. We have a no-kill policy. No Kill MEANS No Kill!! Unless our veterinarian informs us that a dog is suffering, and there is no more we can do to alleviate their pain. Then we will stay with the dog during their final moments while they pass to the Rainbow Bridge. Otherwise a dog will stay with us until their best family is found.

Many people question the cost of adopting a dog. Our adoption fee is charge $400 to $500 for a dog.

Many of our dogs come in injured or very sick (parvo) and need x-rays, ultrasounds, expensive surgeries and/or medication which increases the cost. Adoption fees are necessary for us to continue rescuing these wonderful dogs who would otherwise have been euthanised.

The dogs that may come in vaccinated, spayed/neutered, are adopted out at the same fee since that money goes to the next dog who may need surgery or expensive medical treatment, our adoption fee remains the same and the money is used to save a life.

We are struggling as it is to stay within our budget. Our rescue is run by dedicated unpaid, volunteers who give their own time to work and play, care and help to rehabilitate abused/neglected, abandoned animals some with behavioural issues, so that they can find a forever family who will love them too. We hope everyone understands we do not make money and we struggle each day to stay open so that we can help save unwanted, abused and neglected dogs. They have no voice and so we speak for them and ask for your help so that we can continue to save many more lives.

We are registered under the Income Tax Act 149 (1)(f) Business Number 827825456RR0001.

All of our dogs are adopted out as indoor house pets. Please email for an adoption application at gooddogrescueadoption@live.com. This is the first step in our adoption process. We are NOT first come, first served. Keep in mind: We are not looking for the first home for a dog... We are looking for the BEST home for that dog!

Adopting a friend

All GoodDogs are adopted out with their first vaccinations, de-flead, de-wormed, microchipped, so if they ever get lost they can get home, neutered or spayed and six weeks of free pet health insurance.

Volunteers - Come Visit Us!

As a not-for-profit organization, the Good dog Rescue could not carry out its activities without the help of many volunteers.

We always need help to walk and play with our dogs. We also need people who are able to groom the animals, in order to make them pretty and ready for quick adoption.

Good dog Rescue also needs volunteers to plan and support fundraising campaigns (i.e. selling hotdogs or the bowl-a-thon). And we even need carpenters, electricians, plumbers and landscapers to maintain our facilities.

If you would like to give some of your time, make an appointment to come and see us or send us an email at : gooddogrescuevolunteer@live.com. We are registered under the Income Tax Act 149 (1)(f) Business Number 827825456RR0001.
