Gilchrist County Animal Services is wholly committed to reducing the number of animals euthanized at our Shelter. We are striving to become an Adoption Guarantee Organization. Our hope and vision is to see the time when all healthy and treatable animals brought to our shelter find new homes.
Who We Are
Gilchrist County Animal Services is a County run Public Safety and Animal Control facility dealing with community related animal control functions such as stray or unwanted animals, animals at large, cruelty/neglect, vicious animals and other nuisance animals. All stray animals are held for a 5 day impound period and then available for adoption on the 6th business day, excluding weekends. We encourage all animal owners to identify your pets with the owners name and telephone number, rabies tag and/or micro chip. Gilchrist County Animal Services scans for chipped animals with Home Again Scanners, so if found, we can reunite pet and owner.
Donations of dog food, cat food, cat litter, treats, toys, and other supplies are always appreciated.

We use Patented Kuranda Dog Beds because they are durable, chew proof and easy to clean. If you would like to donate a bed to us so our dogs are off the cold, hard concrete, click here. |
Adopting a Friend
We have Dogs, Cats, and on occasion Horses available to the public for adoption. All animals must be spayed or neutered when adopted. The cost for adoption is $90 with includes the spay/neuter, current rabies vaccination, initial FVRCP/DA2PP vaccine, heart worm test, first deworming, and micro-chip for dogs and cats.
