Who We Are

The mission of Friends Forever Humane Society is to provide a temporary home for stray, unwanted, and abused companion animals of Northwest Illinois. To create an aware and caring society by educating the public in the humane care and treatment of animals, to promote spaying and neutering to reduce pet overpopulation, and to promote animal welfare throughout the county. Friends Forever Humane Society is a non-for-profit companion animal welfare organization, not an animal rights organization. We do not take a stand on hunting furs, or other animal rights issues. We remain focused on the welfare of companion animals. Friends Forever Humane Society and the Friends Forever Public Dog Park DO NOT recieve funding from city, state, or county taxes.

To learn more about S.O.S please contact our facility.
(Regular adoption procedure applies, Friends Forever reserves the right to deny any adoption)

ADOPTION PROCEDURE: Step one, you would need to fill out an adoption application at our facility. Step two, if approved for adoption we require that all family members spend time with the animal prior to adoption. If you are adopting a dog and have other dogs at home we require that you bring them in to meet the new dog prior to adoption. Step three, talk things over with your family and our shelter manager. We care a great deal for our residents and want to find the right family for each of them. Step four, if all goes well you can arrange a time to take your new family member home. The shelter may do a check up a week or two after the adoption to see how things are going.

We work with our residents to make them indoor companion animals.
Some animals, including young puppies or kittens, may not be placed in homes with small children (usually 4 years and under).

Obedience classes are required for puppies and some dogs.

If you are not located in the Freeport area please contact us before coming out to our facility. We would not want anyone to make a long trip just to find the animal is already adopted.

We only adopt within reasonable distance of our area.

We do not ship animals.

Friends Forever reserves the right to deny any adoption.
