Featured Pet

Boomer was found trotting alone down the sidewalk as if he was late for work. He LOVES to be petted and enjoys playing with his people. Boomer has a calm nature and is not destructive. He will stalk squirrels but then quietly takes a nap by the back door. He has been in foster care with other dogs, but have no experience with him and kids or cats. Won't you make Boomer part of your family today?

2008-09-06 Urgent Message Regarding Fostering

At this time, we do not have any For Pets' Sake volunteer foster homes. We do help Northwest Arkansas families place their pets up for adoption by posting their pets on our websites. Be aware that placing a pet sometimes takes weeks or even months. It has not been our experience that posting a pet on our websites results in immediate placement in a loving home. There are just too many pets in need of homes in our area. We appreciate that if you are having to put your pet up for adoption, you must be in between a rock and a hard place. However, so are we! We will continue to try to help families in need, but we are absolutely unable to take in any fosters at this time and we ask that you have realistic expectations when we post your pet on our websites for you.

2008-09-06 September FPS Meeting Scheduled

We will have our monthly volunteer meeting Thursday September 18th at 6:00 PM at the Pontiac Coffee House in Springdale, AR. Please come join our decision making and share your ideas. See you there!

Microchipping Clinic Scheduled September 20th

Millions of companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year. Of these, only two percent of cats and 15-20% of dogs are reunited with their owners. The best way to avoid this is to ensure your pets have a means to identify them at all times. A collar with tags is a good start, but the best way to ensure your pet's ID doesn't get lost is to microchip your pet. For Pets' Sake is holding another microchipping clinic at the Fayetteville Farmer's Market on September 20th, 2008 from 9 AM to 12 PM. The one time cost is $15 per pet, which is about 1/2 to 1/3 of the regular cost of microchipping service. This includes registration with 24petwatch microchipping service. Pet owners register online after their pets are microchipped.

2008-06-08 Agility Demonstration Planned

FPS is planning a dog agility demonstration at the Apple Blossom Retirement Community in late June. The owner/trainer, Karen Valle, will be putting her female border collie, Ziggie, through the poles and jumps. Ziggie has been in the National finals on TV. The retirement facility has an indoor atrium so the residents can watch everything regardless of weather. FPS volunteers will bring a few of their pets to visit the residents.
