Pet of the Month

Our petsof the month introduce themselves.
Hey There Everyone: My name is Louisa and I'm probably the sweetest, most likeable, most loving, friendly, happy Angora mix cat you will ever want to meet. Did I mention that I'm a Pisces - so that proves the sweetest part! I was born at Friends of Animals on March 3, 2008, so technically, I'm still a kitten and love to play and do kitteny stuff like play with ballies and other toys. Hi Folks: My name is Buster and I just want to be your best friend. I'm a Lab mix with a gorgeous coppery-colored coat - or so I'm told. I would be a wonderful dog for a single lady as I'm big and strong, but very gentle. When I go for a walk, I always make sure I'm not going to fast and check back to be sure that the person walking me is having a good time, too.

Who We Are

Friends of Animals is a no-kill cat and dog shelter that was founded in 1983. We are a non-profit placement and rescue organization registered in Sacramento with the Board of Charitable Trusts. This is strictly a volunteer organization that depends on private donations for its support. Our goal is to assist as many animals as possible, providing whatever care necessary to keep the animals in our care healthy and happy.

Adopting a friend

We ask that prospective caregivers/parents/pet protectors call to set up an appointment to visit the animal of their choice. Our policy is then to deliver the pet of your choice to your home. This policy precludes us from adopting the animals out to residents outside the greater LA area (although we do make exceptions for our older or special needs animals). At the time of placement we have a contract we ask that you sign. This gives you all the pertinent data on the animal and asks that if for any reason you are not happy with the pet and cannot keep it, that it be returned to FOAF. There is no time limit on this requirement. We do ask for a nominal donation which can be discussed at the time of the adoption.
