Pet Photos with Santa at Deptford and Cherry Hill PetSmarts

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... which means it's time once again for pet photos with Santa at our Deptford and Cherry Hill PetSmart Adoption Centers. Bring your best friend to pose with Jolly St. Nick between 11 AM and 5 PM during the first three weekends in December (Dec. 5/6, 12/13 and 19/20). Cost is $10 per photo, and each photo comes in a keepsake frame. No appointment necessary; all types of pets are welcome. Proceeds from photos taken at Cherry Hill and Deptford benefit the homeless animals of Furrever Friends.

Remembering Doug Sartor

Our Southern NJ Rescue Community has lost a dedicated volunteer and friend. Please take a moment to say a prayer and remember Doug Sartor, who passed away on Oct. 24. Click to read more...

Doug was a dedicated volunteer to Furrever Friends. A resident of Burlington County, Doug and his wife Sharon spent endless hours helping this small rescue organization. They fostered, bottled fed, tamed down feral kittens, helped build our websites, volunteered at the Cherry Hill Petsmart, assisted at fundraisers, and transported rescued animals. Doug served as our Treasurer for four years, keeping our books straight.

Doug had surgery four years ago after the sudden appearance of a brain tumor. He recovered. Sadly, the tumor did return, and there were complications from that surgery.

Doug's wife, Sharon, is the President of Furrever Friends Rescue and Volunteers, Inc. She has been at Doug's side since he entered the hospital in June when the tumor came back. Note that during this time, Sharon bottle fed TWO litters of kittens, saving their lives.

For those who wish to post their thoughts, you will find a "guest book" in this funeral notice.

Five Housecats Dumped Behind Stores... Rescued!

Five friendly house cats were found abandoned. They inhabited a small patch of bushes and poison oak behind a strip mall. Trash was everywhere. The cats were too traumatized to allow anyone to pick them up, so volunteers spent four late nights to humanely trap them. Volunteers survived a curious skunk, a black widow spider, RATS -- and poison oak exposure -- but they captured all five! Read more...

About Furrever Friends

Furrever Friends Rescue and Volunteers, Inc. (FFRV) is an all-volunteer-run 501c3 nonprofit that strives to save the lives of homeless animals.

We are small... but mighty. Every animal saved is a victory. Volunteers work hard to:

  • Provide safe, loving care in private homes until a furrever family can be found(known as "foster care".)
  • Spay/neuter and vaccinate pets prior to adoption to help control the pet overpopulation problem
  • Find new, furrever homes for animals only after carefully screening potential adopters.
  • Fundraise through special events and projects to provide funding for veterinary costs.
  • Fund emergency medical care to injured or abused animals in the FFRV program through "Geronimo's Fund".
  • Showcase homeless animals at various venues to help find them homes, including our PetSmart Adoption Centers in Deptford and Cherry Hill.

FFRV is a true "no-kill" organization – which means we do not euthanize any of the animals in our care simply to make room for new ones. Although our operation is small, each and every homeless pet in our program receives the absolute best care possible until a furrever home can be found.

Our cats are adopted out spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas, de-wormed and tested for Feline Leukemia & FIV. We are funded 100% from donations and out of our own pockets. Due to this there is a donation required for our cats:

To SURRENDER a cat there is a $50 donation REQUIRED
To ADOPT a cat there is a $90 donation per kitty

Adoption Application

According to the ASPCA, approximately 8 million to 12 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year, and approximately 5 million to 9 million are euthanized (60 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats). By adopting, you are not only enriching your own life... you are also saving one!

Every applicant should understand the responsibilities involved in caring for a pet. It is a life time commitment and many animals live 16 - 20+ years. Pets bond with their human family and need to be treated as a member of the family. Please proceed with this application if you are willing to make that commitment.
