Faithful Friends has recently launched a new and improved website. Please click above to see a list of all our adoptable animals, fill out an application on-line or if you just have questions about our rescue and how we work!
If you are unable to make one of the events listed above and would like to meet one of our adoptable animals, please e-mail us at ffarboard@gmail.com and we can set up a day/time for you to meet that particular animal. Please note, however, if setting up a special meet and greet, we do ask that you complete a pre-adoption application first. Applications can be downloaded from the link below and emailed to us at ffarboard@gmail.com.
So many great natured, well behaved pets find themselves homeless every day through no fault of their own and it's incredibly sad to know that many will never have an opportunity to get a second chance. This is what drives the volunteers at Faithful Friends -- to aid the unfortunate creatures that cannot speak for themselves.
The animals we have up for adoption were homeless for various reasons. Some come from shelters where they were either surrendered by their owners or where they were taken in as a stray. Some come to us directly as strays - lucky enough to have crossed our path. Others come to us because their owners either cannot care for them or no longer wish to care for them. A variety or reasons and in most cases, the reasons have nothing to do with behavior issues.
Faithful Friends is a registered 501(c)(3) charity which means those willing to donate to our cause have the ability to write off their donations. Donations are the life blood of any rescue organization and help us continue saving many needy animal lives. We know times are tough, but even a small donation would help our cause.
We are proud to be partnered with Rally to Rescue. They are a great organization that helps rescues, like us, help the animals in need! Please visit their site for more information. www.facebook.com/rallytorescue
Home Visit - If it's determined that the applicant is a good match for the animal, a volunteer from Faithful Friends will come visit you in your home. We do try to bring the animal the person has applied for to a home visit but there are times when this is not possible depending on where the applicant lives and the schedules of our volunteers. This stage of the adoption process gives us a better feel on where the animal will be living and the lifestyle of the person or family that would like to adopt the animal.
The entire adoption process from start to finish can take as little as a day or two or as much as a week depending on people's schedules. We hope that you will understand that bringing a new pet into your home should not be an impulse decision and that waiting a few days will help ensure that you are adopting the right pet.
Each animal receives a thorough health exam by a vet and while some animals require more than the standard vetting, they come with the following at time of adoption:
DOGS
Age Appropriate Vaccines
Spay / Neuter
Heartworm Test
De-Worming (if necessary)
Microchip
CATS
Age Appropriate Vaccines
Spay / Neuter
Feline FIV / FELV Leukemia test
De-Worming (if necessary)
Microchip
Note - puppies under the age of 2 months are not spayed/neutered at the time of adoption but Faithful Friends will cover the cost of their spay/neuter, when the time comes, as long as they are taken to one of our participating vets (we have east side & west side locations). That is a great value since most sterilization surgeries cost between $200-$300.
What Is Involved in Fostering? Foster moms and dads will bring their foster animal into their home and let them live as a "normal" pet. Nearly all animals require a little work on potty training and manners and just general TLC. By living in a home as a normal pet, the foster family can learn more about the animal's personality and help us match the animal to a new person or family that will be best suited for the animal. Foster moms/dads will also be involved in the adoption screening process and would need to make themselves available from time to time to attend adoption events and/or meet potential applicants in the applicants homes. Because nearly all of our volunteers work full time jobs, these activities are normally conducted on weekends or in the evening hours of a normal work week.
Fundraising - We normally spend a minimum of $300 to vet our foster dogs/cats with the "basics" - sterilization, vaccines, breed specific tests and worming). Because we must remain "competitive" with other rescues and shelters/humane societies, we keep our adoption fees lower. This means we spend more than we get back for the animals so we make up the difference by conducting fundraisers.
Obviously, we are always on the lookout for someone willing to organize and promote a fundraiser for our group. Garage sales, bottle can drives, cosmic bowling, golf outings and in-home parties are just a few examples of fundraisers that can be organized. The proceeds earned would go to Faithful Friends and would go a long way in our efforts to save more needy animals. Have any other great ideas? Just email us at ffar2009@yahoo.com with your ideas.
Pet Transportation- Since our volunteers work full time jobs it would be helpful to find volunteers who may be home during the normal work day and would be available to take dogs to vet appointments or help with picking up a new dog from a shelter facility.
Gift Collectors- When we do fundraisers such as cosmic bowling and golf outings, gift raffles are normally held during these events so we need volunteers willing to go out and try to russel up gift certificates or items from beauty saloons, restaurants, travel agencies, any business willing to make a donation or contribution to a good cause.
Grooming Services - Not all of our foster animals require grooming but many do and it would help our bottom line if there was someone out there willing to donate their grooming services from time to time.
Printing- We try to do monthly mailings and like to get our group additional exposure by distributing informational pamphlets to the public but these printings can be quite costly. If you or someone you know could help with professional printing services, please contact us today.
