Fayette Friends of Animals is a non-profit volunteer organization that believes in the humane treatment and improved quality of life of all animals. We are a no-kill rescue shelter and, due to the size of our facility, we are limited in the number of animals we can house. If you are interested in any of our animals, please call or email and we will get back to you as quickly as possible. We are a small staff so please be patient! Our hours of operation are Mon, Tues, and Wed 1-5:30 p.m., Thurs 3-5:30 p.m., Fri. 1-5:30 p.m., and Sat 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Directions and contact information can be found at the bottom of this page. Also, every Saturday and some Sundays we take a van full of our pets to the Petsmart in Greensburg to be seen for adoption so if you can't make it here, hopefully we'll see you there!
When adopting a pet from Fayette Friends of Animals, or any other shelter, please remember: These animals are most often strays rescued off the streets. While we do our best, we cannot and do not make any guarantee as to the age, breed, health, disposition, or future size of the animal. Often times the animals do not display signs of illness until after adoption.
If you are interested in adopting, you will be required to fill out an adoption questionnaire and be approved before adoption can take place. This may take up to 3 business days. This is for the safety of our animals. We *generally* only adopt to homes within a two hour drive of the shelter (for the right home we may make an exception to the two hour rule, however please mapquest us before applying to be sure you can make the trip) and pets must be picked up no later than three days after approval unless arrangements are agreed upon by the shelter manager. By picking up your new pet quickly, you are giving hope to animals waiting to come into the shelter to be rescued. Delaying for your convenience only seals the doom of another pet in need.
The adoption cost is $120.00 total for small dogs and puppies, $100.00 total for large dogs, and $65.00 total for dogs who have been at the shelter for 1 year or more (please note some animals may have a special adoption price). The adoption cost includes spay/neuter, beginning shots, and microchipping/chip registration; our pups and strays also received their first course of wormer. The adoption cost for adult cats is $60.00 and kittens are $70.00. Cats who have been at the shelter 1 year or more are $50.00. This includes spay/neuter, beginning shots, deworming, and leukemia testing.
Please be aware, you will be required to take your new pet to the vet within two weeks of adoption. This vet visit will cost anywhere from $50 to $250! Please anticipate this cost in adopting a new friend. They may need further worming, further vaccinations, incision care, heart worm testing, flea treatment, antibiotics, or other care. Your adoption fee covers only a small part of the veterinary expenses we have incurred for your new friend.

Starlet is the epitome of all a female cat should be...beautiful, proud, and a bit of a diva! She has been at the shelter over a year and is waiting for a home who appreciates her in all her glory!"
