At our facility, each animal receives individual consideration, regardless of health, age, prior abuse or trauma, or feral status. We provide care and treatment for all animals as needed, including veterinary care, appropriate nutrition, exercise, clicker training, and socialization with people and other animals.

 

Many animals have been adopted and found new homes thanks to F5RS, but sadly there are still many animals that still need to find homes. So if you're considering adding a new pet to the family, please adopt a shelter animal.

Healthy buns are happy buns, we all know that. Buns are happy because they have proper, clean living areas, toys, healthy food, veggies and other things to keep them entertained. At F5RS, we provide only the best conditions for our bunnies. Our rescue is constantly raising money through a variety of fund raisers to help with this cause. We are now excited to launch "Operation Binky"! It is your chance to help buns by giving specific items. On Amazon.com, you can find the F5RS Wish List. It is full of items that will directly make bunnies happy like toys and play items. There are also items that the rescue needs like paper towels, trash bags and cleaning supplies. Rescue money goes to buy these supplies to keep our bunnies happy and healthy. All potential adopters are rigorously screened and all adopted animals leave the facility with a veterinary wellness check, conversion to a healthier diet, and proper socialization skills. Rabbits are spayed or neutered. All animals deemed unsuitable for adoption live out their lives with all the necessary amenities. It is our vision that proper education, combined with proper match of adopter and adoptee will promote responsible companion caretakers - therefore creating happier, healthier companion - animal relationships.

There are a lot of reasons people have to, or want to, give up a pet. If you or someone you know needs to give up birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, or any of the smaller animals, this is what you need to know:

• We do not take wild birds. Wild animals can carry diseases which they could pass on to our pets. We only take healthy animals. A pet that you want to give up and is ill still needs to go to the vet.
• We require you to sign a waiver saying you are giving this pet up willingly.
• Donation of the food, cage, and toys is strongly suggested and greatly appreciated! We do not ask a fee to take your pet even though we have them vet checked and take care of them until they are adopted. We have a limited number of extra cages and if you keep the cage this puts a burden on us to provide a cage for a pet you're giving up to us.

 

To adopt any pet from our rescue you must first fill out an adoption application, our board will review your application and contact you for your interview. Prior experience is a must for the adoption of all large birds.

Please note that there is an adoption fee, which varies by animal and covers the cost of bedding, food, toys, treats, and veterinary care, as well as the cost of our rabbit spay and neuter program. All rabbits are spayed or neutered.

1. We do not adopt out to children. Parents must agree to be the primary caregiver; older youth will be considered a secondary caregiver.
2. We interview all applicants for the adoption of any and all of our adoptees.
3. All adopters must have a veterinarian, and all pets should see veterinarian within 10 days of adoption.
4. We will take back any adoptee within the first three months, minus a percent fee.
5. We will take back any adoptee after the first year minus the adoption fee.
6. Bunnies must be inside pets, and all pets must have appropriate sized cages.
7. You must be able to show avian knowledge to adopt a bird of any kind.
8. We will consider the pet you are interested in as "pending" for seven (7) days after we send out application. If we don't hear from you after seven days, the pet will once again be put up for adoption.
9. Adoption fees are based on age, health, and type of adoption.
10. All our pets have had a general healthcare check-up. Adoption fees help to cover this cost. The adoption fees are:
    
    • Bunnies $70.00/one $110.00 pair. All bunnies are spayed or neutered and are house-trained.
    • Ferrets $60.00/one $100.00 pair. All ferrets are spayed or neutered, and are litter box trained.
    • Guinea Pigs $10.00/one $15.00 same sex pair.
    • Ask for "Other" fees.
11. All pets come without a cage! Please be sure you have the equipment necessary to care for your new pet.
12. We reserve the right to deny any adoption for any reason.
