~ Who We Are ~

The Escalon Animal Shelter serves the city of Escalon, CA, an agricultural community situated north of Modesto and southeast of Stockton. We're fairly new, having opened in August, 2006, and our facility, though small, processes large numbers of dogs and cats within the Escalon city limits. We have a good success rate at re-uniting pets with their families, and a good record on adoptions and contact with rescue groups.

~ Adopting a friend ~

Shelter volunteers and staff try to advise prospective adoptive families as to an animal's temperament, needs, life expectancy, and any other pertinent facts. We charge a nominal fee for our adoptions: $44.00 for a dog and $22.00 for a cat.
Avid Microchips are manditory for all dog adoptions and are optional for cats if the new owners request them. We recomend microchipping all animals as it will aid in finding your pet if it ever gets lost or stolen. We charge a $22 fee which includes the registration of the chip.
If the animal has not yet been spayed or neutered, Escalon Small Animal Clinic will spay or neuter the animal before the adoption can proceed.
The Escalon Shelter Staff will transport the animal to the vet on surgery day, and the adoptive family will pick up their new pet from the vet's once the procedure has been completed.
The City of Escalon has made arrangements with the Escalon Small Animal Clinic to handle our spay/neuter needs as follows Dogs: Spay $75 Neuter $70 Cats: Spay $45 Neuter $40 which is paid by the new adoptive family. They also offer vaccines done during the surgury at a discounted price that are necessary for the continued good health of the new pet.

We are located at 25100 E. River Road, Escalon CA 95320.

From Escalon, head south on McHenry Avenue toward Modesto. When you reach River Road, turn right and proceed approximately 1/5 of a mile. Just before crossing the railroad tracks, make a left turn into the driveway which leads to the shelter parking area.

From Modesto, head north on McHenry Avenue toward Escalon. When you reach River Road, turn left and proceed approximately 1/5 of a mile. Just before crossing the railroad tracks, make a left turn into the driveway which leads to the shelter parking area.

Our operating hours are 11:00AM-1:30PM, Monday through Friday. We are currently closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
