SAD NEWS.......due to health problems, the owners and animal caretakers of EL REFUGIO ANIMAL SANCTUARY, located in Pescadero, BCS Mexico (about an hour north of Cabo San Lucas), have to sell their beautiful ranch that has been providing tender loving care to the local stray animals, providing food, shelter and medical treatment around the clock until good homes can be found. They hope to find someone who would be willing to carry on the labor of love they have established, but it may not be possible. In the meantime, it has become even more imperative that new homes are found for the dogs who are still at the sanctuary. Please consider visiting El Refugio while you are down here in Mexico and taking home a new friend...it's very easy to do - just ask!! There are quite a few seasoned pet-loving volunteers who live in the area that will bend over backwards to help you.... KITTY HEAVEN, in association with El Refugio Animal Sanctuary and located at the home of realtor Angelique Shornstein, provides shelter to homeless kitties found in Todos Santos and surrounding areas. These very lucky kitties are cared for in a strictly feline environment, getting spay/neutered/ shots up to date and otherwise given a new lease on life. Adopting a friend:
It is very easy to bring pets back to the states. All you need is a health certificate stating the animal is free of communicable diseases and vaccinations are up to date. Airline regulations vary as to which carriers allow pets to fly in the cargo area, as most don't allow it during the hotter weather months, so you would need to contact the airlines prior to making adoption arrangements. Carriers for animals traveling onboard (under 15 lbs) or in the cargo hold are available for purchase locally, and we would be more than happy to assist you with all the details. Just ask!!
