Our Featured Pet...

Pilgram

I will love you forever!

Pilgram is a real trooper. Pilgram is a two year old GSD that was abandoned at a vet clinic in OH with a severely broken leg. Her leg could not be saved, so she has learned to work with 3 legs. SHE DOES WONDERFULLY NOW ON IT! Pilgram has come from an abusive situation and will take patience to build her trust. She prefers women and is OK with childeren once she adjusts to them. She is not fond of men and will grumble at them but does adjust with time. She is an excellent alert dog. Meaning she will bark when people come and "alert" you of people that she is not familiar with. She would best be suited for a home that understands that it will take time for her to adjust to her new family. I also suggest that she be placed with only older childeren because she can scare easily and would not take well to a stumbling toddler. Pilgram does wonderfully with 3 legs, and doesn't even stumble now. Pilgram is faithfully housetrained and has not had one accident in the house. She does well on leash or off leash and she is fine with other animals including small dogs and cats. She even does fine with the ducks, which can be a challenge for ANY German Shepherd! This dog is very special and will be very connected with her caregiver. She is very loyal and loving once she adjusts. She just needs a chance for a new family that is willing to be patient with her.
Adoption fee: 85.00
Please put in an application if you are interesteding in adopting.

A Rescue Story

Big Boy

We were recently faced with this sweet emaciated boy's struggle to live. The vet that saw him didn't expect him to make it more than a week. He weighed only 53lbs, mostly from his large bone structure. He was a victim of neglect and cruelty for many cold months. Big Boy, as he was known, was so frightened that he wouldn't let us touch him for several days. He coward from any human contact and was in pain from the bones protruding out from under his skin and the hunger he had suffered, but we knew his spirit was in there somewhere.
Though his eyes were vacant, as if he had traveled to a better place, we continued to searched to find him. As the days went on, our hopes of bringing him back became better. He allowed us to touch him, then pet him, and finally, he began to approach us for affection.
The day he actually had the strength to jump up on me to be petted, I cried. From that day on I knew he would be OK. He was adopted by a wonderful family that has him as a house dog, and even goes to work with them daily!
To think he was within days of crossing the rainbow bridge!
Big Boy, now named BO, weighs in at almost 100lbs now! He recently won second place in an international dog photo contest! Now that is progress from his former self!

This is why I do Rescue!

FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!!!!!

I am currently looking for foster homes for large breed dogs as well as GSD's. We are over whelmed by beautiful dogs that just need a safe home until a family can be found. If you live in the area and feel that you can help, please email me ASAP. Please remember that these dogs need a lot of exercise and care. All Vet care will be provided, but due to limited resources, no other financial assistance is available.

We are currently very limited in what we can take in to rescue.
I do not deal with breeders!

If you are trying to place a GSD, you may email me and I can help you find a resource to help you.

PLEASE LOOK AT YOUR LOCAL SHELTERS AND LEAVE YOUR NAME SAYING YOU ARE INTERESTED IN A GSD!

Funding And Volunteers Needed!!! ASAP!!!

If you would like to help, but can't do foster care, we need sponsors as well. Many dogs need rescue funds to pull them from shelters and provide them with vet care. Each dog usually runs about 70.00 to rescue them from the shelter and have them spay/neutered and get their shots. Any thing can help. Five dollars here and there adds up quick.

If you are able to foster other types of animals, like cats, kittens, puppies, or smaller breed dogs, please contact us and we will forward it to the Lawrence County Humane Society of KY. They are overflowing with animals that need foster homes.(www.petfinder.org/shelters/ky26.html)

Who We Are

We are an established organization (8 years and counting), no-profit, 501c3, group of volunteers (mostly me and my husband) that are dedicated to the placement of German Shepherds and other animals ,that have been rescued from shelters across the country or released by owners`. Our entire organization is run with donations, volunteer work, and our VISAS!!! We get NO federal or state funding of any kind, so our resources are limited. We run on the donations of kind people that have a soft spot for the dogs we rescue. We only accept dogs that are in Kill Shelters, due to the limited space. OWNER SURRENDERS ACCEPTED ONLY IF THERE IS ROOM OR A FOSTER HOME AVAILABLE. (SORRY) A $100.00 SURRENDER FEE ALSO WILL APPLY.

We encourage all new adopters to consider a pet from a shelter or a rescue organization. Every breed, age, and sex is available in shelters across the nation. Usually transports can be arranged through volunteers across the nation. With time and consistence, your dream pet can be rescued from a shelter. We also work very closely with the Lawrence County Humane Society of KY. Please check out their pets on petfinder also. (www.petfinder.org/shelters/ky26.html)
