Dogs and puppies may be seen every weekend at the PETsMART in Dothan. And cats and kittens are always on available and on view in the PETsMARTS’s Love Center.
Who We Are
Dothan Animal Shelter is run by the city of Dothan, Alabama. We accept strays and owner turn-ins from those Dothan residents living within the city limits of Dothan.
We must, by law, keep strays in our facility for seven days after they are brought in. After that time, a decision is made whether the animal will be euthanized, brought up for adoption, or left in the stray room for a while longer. Because of the high number of dogs and cats we receive each week, we are forced to euthanize animals regularly. Our ultimate goal is to eliminate the need for euthanasia. We urge owners of lost pets to check with the shelter when you loose your pet.
We strive to encourage responsible pet ownership and impress upon future pet owners the importance of having their pets spayed or neutered in order to control pet overpopulation. Please, if you have pets or know someone who does, have your own pets sterilized and encourage others to do the same. For more information about the Dothan Animal Shelter, please call (334) 615-4620
