Do not need to be adopted together.... Both are fine with other dogs...NEW updated pictures of Miley & Cyrus can be seen in our "Dogs for Adoption" page. Please look at both these amazing dogs - what they look like today!! ~~ Miley and Cyrus were terribly skinny / starving when found. These are 2 beautiful, young, friendly hounds whose lives would have been cut short if not for a phone call and then rescue from the horrific situation they were found, in SW Ohio. We're searching for loving homes for this sister and brother. Miley & Cyrus. Their gloomy past is upsetting, unimaginable, disgusting....Four dogs in a backyard, existing. Left to starve. Two were already dead. Miley and Cyrus, skin and bones, both still alive. Chains attached to their collars. Weak, they moved slowly. The home / owners no longer wanting them, decided not to feed them!! What's wrong with people!!! A concerned individual living in SW Ohio was able to rescue these siblings, placing them safely into her in-laws garage until a rescue group could be found. Both these beautiful hounds are very friendly sweethearts! What they've been through...yet both still approach humans with a happy, tail wag greeting! Miley & Cyrus are slowly regaining health and are starting to play! Both would make excellent family dogs or companion pets! Cyrus, a 2 1/2 y/o boy, his biography can be found on : "Our Adoptable Pet List" underlined at the very top. Click it, to review all our dogs in need of homes............... We'd like to thank those who've expressed concern and interest in their well-being. Pictures will be posted of these two -- before and after. Permanent loving homes will be needed. If you can give one or both a loving home, email us for an application...www.DogworksOhio@aol.com ........... These are 2 nice dogs!
The Sporting Dog! Classified as a sporting breed, hunting dog or gun dog doesn't necessarily mean "for hunting only". Most of the dogs taken into rescue are because s/he "would not hunt". The sporting breeds are sensitive, intelligent and wanting to please dogs. Given attention, interaction and exercise these dogs make excellent companions for life. No hunting required! AGAIN -- If you're looking for a dog to hunt, please inquire - many of our dogs were rescued / pulled from a pound where the dog had been placed because it wouldn't hunt. Some were lost / strays found wandering. Many found in rural areas. ~~~~~~~~~~>>>>>>>>~~~~~~~~~>>>>>>>>~~~~~~~~~>>>>>>>~~~~~

Who We Are

DogWorks, Inc. is an all volunteer, not for profit, 501c3, no kennel, domestic sporting dog group. We rely on volunteer foster homes. Our purpose is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome abandoned, neglected and unwanted sporting dogs of various breeds, pure and mixes. Primarily, (not limited to) our orphaned dogs are pulled from euthanizing shelters and given a new chance at life. Our goal is placement into companion homes well matched for human and dog.

Adopting a friend

We strongly suggest researching characteristics and temperaments of the dog breed you are considering to add as a member of your household. Preparation is a key to understanding the new dog and hopefully fewer surprises as s/he settles into your home. <>~<>~<> Email us for an Adoption Application at: ~~~~~~ DogWorksOhio@aol.com ~~~~~ or for answers to any questions. After completed application is reviewed, referrals checked and pet is brought to your home, that is when/where signing of adoption contract will take place. Copy of contract can be provided prior, for your review and any new questions can be answered before contract is signed. Our pets are provided with veterinary care, up to date vaccines and spayed or neutered (required) prior to adoption. Puppies who are not spayed / neutered before being brought into our rescue will be altered by 6 months of age or sooner. We do not ship animals. We will try and work with a potential new home by "holding" a dog for an adopter BUT -- if another home is found that would also be an equally good match, we do reserve the right to place the dog into the second home during the "hold" period. The mixed breeds listed are only our best guess - especially important to remember with the rescued puppies! Adoption fees range from $140 to $350
