Laramie is a very happy little guy, who came to Dog Town after having a couple of crappy homes. He has really come out of his shell and is very busy learning how to play with his new buddies. He is learning how to walk on a leash, but he's already very good at cuddling and giving kisses! Why not make a difference in the life of a rescued dog? If you're not helping...you're a part of the problem.. |

I looked at all the caged dogs in the shelter... the cast offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal. And I was angry. "God", I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?" God was silent for a moment and then he spoke softly. "I have done something," he replied, " I created you". |

April!
A few changes...
Since we got our new property in Churchill County, things have been a bit chaotic. We are still doing two adoptions every month, but we've been trying to expand our coverage area, and get some more exposure for our dogs. So please bear with us, and check the local newspaper for announcements of our upcoming adoption events. We'll try to update this page to keep you all informed, so stay tuned. Call us at 775-230-3703 for more information!
If you are looking for a dog who won't bark, jump, dig, chew, shed hair, has perfect manners and is 100% housebroken, may we suggest the stuffed animal aisle at Toys r Us.
Our rescued dogs are not perfect. Some of the dogs you are seeing today were abandoned, abused, starved, shot, hit by cars, or simply neglected by the humans they had once trusted.
A rescued dog can bring a lifetime of love and devotion, but can also require extra effort on your part. Some dogs will need a gentle hand with housebreaking, or learning that they no longer have to fight for their food. After being abandoned, some may have separation issues, and may need help to feel secure again.
Remember, these dogs have lost their homes and families. Their entire worlds have been turned upside down beyond their capacity to understand, and most will require some time to adjust. please have realistic expectations for them.
If you have the patience and compassion it may take to change the life of a rescued dog, you will be rewarded with a lifetime of love and gratitude unequalled by any other species. But if you cannot make the COMMITMENT to work with this dog and to be a wise and compassionate guardian, we respectfully request that you do not adopt from us. (copyrighted by Lorayn Walser)
We are providing this link to an important website where you can learn more about animal abuse and what you can do to help stop it.
Dog Town Canine Rescue is a non-profit, 501 (c) 3, grassroots, hands-on, blood and guts rescue that focuses on rescuing dogs scheduled to be euthanized, dogs that have been abandoned, or dogs coming from homes who can no longer care for them. These dogs are then vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and put up for adoption. We hold monthly adoption days at the PetSmart store on Fairview Drive, and also the PetCo store on Topsy Lane in south Carson.

Please call us at (775) 230-3703 for information about adopting a dog. We ask for a $75.00 Adoption Donation for our dogs, which includes spaying or neutering, all vaccinations, worming if necessary.
Please check out the Petfinder sites for other Reno-Carson City area animal control agencies for more great dogs.
