Foxy Roxy is looking for a special family to love. Are you the family she has been looking for?
Foxy Roxy is a 1 year old Beagle, Terrier mix with a solid red coat. She is somewhat shy, but is very sweet and warms up to new people quickly. Foxy Roxy is great with other dogs and enjoys having a canine companion. She is a very sweet girl and is one of the staff's favorites. If you think you are the right home for Miss Foxy Roxy please come visit her and all of her adoption buddies here at the shelter.
Pictures with Santa
Santa is coming to town! He will be at the shelter on December 19th from 11am to 4pm to take pictures with your pets for the holidays. Pictures will be taken digitally, so you will need an email address for Santa to mail you a copy. The only thing that Mr. Clause requires is that all pets be on leash or in a carrier. You can also be in the picture with your pets and Santa if would like. So put on your festive gear and bring your four-legged kids down to the shelter!!
Who We Are
Dallas Animal Services and Adoption Center is located just a few minutes West of Downtown Dallas. Dallas Animal Services provides animal control for the City of Dallas. Dogs and cats are evaluated by our veterinary staff after their stray hold is over if they have not been reclaimed by their owners. Dogs and cats that are healthy and have good temperaments, become available for adoption, space permitting. We always have a large variety of pets available: Everything from 2-pound Chihuahuas to 90-pound Great Danes, and 6-week-old fur-babies to a 10-year-old fur-seniors. Many people think that shelters are only for mutts, but about 25% of the animals that end up in shelters are, if fact, purebred! You just never know what kind of dog or cat you might find in a shelter - that's what makes adopting so much fun! And when you adopt a shelter pet, you're not only getting a loving, lifelong companion, but you're also saving the life of a precious animal. Please come visit us. Your new best friend is just waiting to meet you!
The Pet Adoption Program's goal is to bring deserving dogs and cats together with loving, responsible owners while reducing the number of animals which are needlessly destroyed each year due to unavailable homes. We hope your visit to our site will both inform and encourage you to visit our shelter and give that "special" dog or cat a place in your heart and home. All animals adopted from our shelter are microchipped and sterilized. To view some of our available pets click here.
Very Special Pets (VSP)
You may notice that some of our animals have the letters "VSP" next to their name. VSP stands for "Very Special Pet". VSP animals are dogs and cats that have been available in our adoption program for over 6 weeks and still haven't found their forever homes. We have given them the Very Special Pet title to help get them a little more attention. Take a look at our VSPs, they are great animals that are just waiting for the perfect new family.
Microchipping Clinics
Dallas Animal Services will now be doing monthly Microchip clinics. We will be microchipping pets for the public for a fee of $15.00 (includes microchip registration). The clinics will be held the last Saturday of every month from 11:00am to 4:00pm.
Offsite Events...
Come visit one of our many locations we take our adoptable pets too, see the calendar below to find out where our pets will be this weekend.
Want to share some love with the animals here at the shelter, but don't know how? What about looking through your linen closet and handing down those old blankets and towels. Or, maybe you play tennis. What happens to all those used tennis balls? Our dogs don't mind if they are a little flat. Below are some things the shelter needs.
Blankets, beds and towels
Newspaper
Hard toys (like Kongs or nyla bones)
Tennis balls and rope toys
Treats for dogs and cats
We have a goal to put a "Kuranda" bed in every kennel. You can help us reach our goal by going to Kuranda.com
