Description

Founded in 2000, CSRBC Cocker Spaniel Rescue became a registered Canadian Charity in November 2003. We are dedicated to helping unwanted or abandoned cocker spaniels and placing them in loving homes. CSRBC works with local shelters and private individuals, handling an average of 20-30 Cocker Spaniels per year.
A dog available for adoption through CSRBC is typically healthy and of good temperament, unless otherwise stated. Their ages range from 6 months to 10 yrs or more. CSRBC does not refuse a dog based on age alone.
Services

CSRBC provides the following services:
1. RESCUE: CSRBC takes in Cocker Spaniels from abuse/cruelty situations or local shelters and fosters them for a period of no less than 3 weeks. In this period we are able to asses their temperaments and get them any training they need. We are also able to have them fully cared for by our vet and have needed surgery done prior to being adopted to their forever home.

2. REFERRAL: CSRBC also serves as a referral service to owners who need to rehome their Cocker Spaniel and are able to keep the dog in their home until a new home is found. CSRBC requires a listing fee for this service. A CSRBC Representative will go to the current home, assess the dog, make some recommendations about vetting, grooming etc. A picture will be taken and the dog's information will be listed here on Petfinder. CSRBC screens all potential adotpers for the family and only send the serious applicants to the home.

3. EDUCATION: CSRBC promotes responsible dog ownership by educating the public on proper care of the dog, proper training and good veterinary care. We are also an ongoing resource not only for our adopters but for any Cocker Spaniel owner who needs advice on their cocker spaniel.

4. ASSISTANCE: This program is tightly monitored by our Board of Directors. In order to be approved for this program, proof of need must be provided to CSRBC. Also, an estimate of the procedure required for the dog needs to be faxed to CSRBC on the vet letterhead signed by the vet. The Board will assess each request and may make recommendations and/or agree to provide all or part of the financing for the particular procedure.
This also depends on our finances at the time of request.
