Heidi is one of our long term residents she started her life as an outdoor dog chained to a doghouse. Heidi is now 6 yrs old but she still has lots of love to give. She got very little attention or love in her first home. Since being at Country Hearts she has enjoyed playing with other dogs and running around the yard. She likes other dogs and is a gentle quiet girl. Heidi would be an easy addition to anyones home. She doesn't need much and likes to sleep in her crate. She would not be destructive if left loose though. Heidi just needs the right home so she does not have to spend the rest of her life in rescue. Not that she would complain but I feel like she deserves more.
With 2010 just begining we will hold onto the hope of a great year ahead with fewer dogs needing our help. We will dream of the day we too can close our doors because there is no longer a need for us.

We are a Coonhound & Basenji rescue only. There are several good groups out there for Beagles, Bassets, and other dogs. We rescue Coonhounds (Blueticks, Redbones, Blk & Tans, and Walker Hounds), American Foxhounds, and Basenjis.
Country Hearts is a small rescue group. We have been helping with rescue for years. Hounds & Basenjis are always in our hearts. With good hound rescues few and far between, we are constantly busy working to help some poor local Coonhound or Basenji that has found itself in an area shelter.
We are small but we are dedicated folks who want to do rescue right.
Country Hearts Hound & Basenji Rescue houses most of its rescues at Country Dog Daycare. The dogs spend their days playing inside and outside as a group and so they are well socialized with other dogs. At night the dogs sleep in crates inside. They get training and lots of love.
ALL OUR HOUNDS ARE AVAILABLE TO HOMES WHERE THEY WILL BE HOUSE DOGS ONLY. WE WILL NOT ADOPT TO HOMES WHERE THE DOG WILL BE KEPT IN THE YARD
ALL Country Hearts Hounds & Basenjis will be spayed and neutered before they are adopted.They are evaluated for temperment. They will be current on vaccines and healthy. They will be microchipped for their safety. We have an adoption application and require a home visit for all our potential adopters. We ask that you have patience with our adoption process since we are all volunteers. We are committed to making sure the dogs get good homes. As soon as we find good homes there are others dogs waiting for help, so we are not going to drag our feet when it comes to placing our dogs. We do want our adopters to know the truth about Coonhounds & Basenjis as pets and about each individual dog's personality so we will be talking to you as a potential adopter quite a bit.
