Our Featured Pet...QUINCY

Quincy is a cute little puggy boy who as a puppy looked like a Redbone Coonhound. He was part of a group of 15 pups found along a country road with lots of medical issues. Quincy had mange which had left him looking really sad and skinny. Now he is a healthy playful pup who is looking for a loving family to live with. Quincy is a quiet dog..He loves to play but he is gentle and is often seen playing with the little dogs here. Quincy looks like a lab/redbone coonhound cross at this point but he is still part of Country Hearts and will stay here until the right home is found..

"Country Hearts is working towards a bigger and better future!" .We were struggling a little as a rescue last year but 2011 looks bright. Our 501c3 is finally being processed and we hope it will help us to make some long overdue improvements here. Donations are always a big help too as there always seem to be even more hounds out there in need of help. We do want to say thanks all our past adopters who keep in touch and occassionally send a donation continuing their support of the hounds we all love.

Who We Are

We are a Coonhound & Basenji rescue only. There are several good groups out there for Beagles, Bassets, and other dogs. We rescue Coonhounds (Blueticks, Redbones, Blk & Tans, and Walker Hounds), American Foxhounds, and Basenjis.
Country Hearts is a small rescue group. We have been helping with rescue for years. Hounds & Basenjis are always in our hearts. With good hound rescues few and far between, we are constantly busy working to help some poor local Coonhound or Basenji that has found itself in an area shelter.
We are small but we are dedicated folks who want to do rescue right.
Country Hearts Hound & Basenji Rescue houses most of its rescues on our home property. The dogs spend their days playing inside and outside as a group and so they are well socialized with other dogs. At night the dogs sleep in crates inside. They get training and lots of love.

Adopting a friend

ALL OUR HOUNDS ARE AVAILABLE TO HOMES WHERE THEY WILL BE HOUSE DOGS ONLY. WE WILL NOT ADOPT TO HOMES WHERE THE DOG WILL BE KEPT IN THE YARD

ALL Country Hearts Hounds & Basenjis will be spayed and neutered before they are adopted.They are evaluated for temperment. They will be current on vaccines and healthy. They will be microchipped for their safety. We have an adoption application and require a home visit for all our potential adopters. We ask that you have patience with our adoption process since we are all volunteers. We are committed to making sure the dogs get good homes. As soon as we find good homes there are others dogs waiting for help, so we are not going to drag our feet when it comes to placing our dogs. We do want our adopters to know the truth about Coonhounds & Basenjis as pets and about each individual dog's personality so we will be talking to you as a potential adopter quite a bit.
We are people friendly ... but we love our rescue dogs & as such want the best home for them. If you have questions about a specific dog email us.
