We are interested in finding permanent homes for all kinds of animals that need companionship and love. We offer a place for people in the community to list animals they can't keep any longer because of changes in life's circumstances, and those who have taken in animals to foster in the hopes someone will fall in love and take care of them. We want to serve Central Florida to connect people and their pets. We are registered as a non-profit organization with the state of Florida.
If you are interested in adopting an animal on our website, please request an adoption application. You must first return a completed application before we can answer questions about our adoptable pets or review your home as a forever home. It can take weeks or months to find the right homes for displaced animals. Please be patient with us. All our pets have descriptions and photos that are as accurate as possible. Please feel free to ask questions after you have applied. We require a home visit and a vet refernece check. Adoption fees vary with each animal. Because of bounced checks, we ONLY accept cash, money order, Paypal (fees apply) or cashiers check. We want to hear from you whether you are looking for a new pet or have a pet to list. There are so many animals looking for homes out-of-state, that we ONLY place in Florida. We also do home visits for all our adoptable pets and we cannot travel out of state to do home visits. Please look in your area for one of the many wonderful rescues who can help you find a pet. We want to help you find your animal a new home where you can feel secure knowing he or she will have a good, secure future. We place our animals the same way. We are always looking for caring people to adopt pets, foster homes and volunteers - please ask for an application if you have an interest. You must be over 18. Thank you for visiting our site. We are grateful for all the wonderful people we encounter. We would be grateful if you would like to make a monetary donation so that we can continue our work or help out by giving us the dog food we use, treats, crates, beds, rawhide bones or grooming assistance. We use Kuranda beds, when possible, and the Orlando Pet Patrny delivers our food. You may contact them to donate directly also.
All the animals we rehome are spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and have heartworm and fecal testing. Vaccinations include DHLPP, Rabies and Bordetalla.
Rescue work is expensive and we hold our organization to very high standards. Our fees cover adoption partnerships with shelters, pulling, transport, vetting, socialization, grooming and other needs. In order to adopt, you should live locally and have a fenced yard. If you live in an apartment or condo, please check with your landlord or homeowner's association to ensure dogs are allowed.
You must sign our contract for the continued care of your new pet. If you can no longer care for a pet you have adopted from us, you must contact and return the animal for future placement. No animals are to be given away, returned to the shelter or humane society under any circumstances. Thank you!
We want to thank Dr. Glenn Larkins and the staff at the Altamonte Veterinary Hospital and the owners of the Orlando Pet Pantry for their kind assistance with our rescue. Thanks to Fifi's Pet Palace for grooming assistance. Thanks to Winter Park Lost Pets for their support and all our wonderful volunteers.
If you would like to apply for a pet, please request an application at compassionatek9@gmail.com. Thank you!
ADOPTION DONATIONS help pay for emergency vet bills, shots, worming, spaying/neutering, microchipping, food, shelter, transportation, transfer fees to save them from high-kill shelters or auctions, heartworm testing and monthly prevention. Some animals require more money and time from sicknesses or some are unadoptable and need care for life. The rescue needs all the donations an animal is able to bring in as the money is used for ALL the animals to provide the above services. While vet care is provided at reduced rates thanks to generous vets that work with us, it still is expensive!
10 Canine Commandments
1. My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any separation from you will be painful to me. Remember that before you buy me.>
2. Give me time to understand what you want from me.>
3. Place your trust in me.>
4. Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your entertainment, your friends. I have you.>
5. Talk to me sometimes. Even if I don't understand your words, I understand your voice when it's speaking to me.>
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I'll never forget it.>
7. Remember before you hit me, I have teeth that could easily crush the bones in your hand , but I choose not to bite you.>
8. Before you scold me for being uncooperative, obstinate or lazy, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not geting the right food, or I've been out in the sun too long, or my heart is getting old and weak.>
9. Take care of me when I get old. You too will grow old.>
10. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say: "I can't bear to watch it," or "Let it happen in my absence." Everything is easier for me if you are there.>
Remember that I love you!>
