Although we never put any of our cats down, if our cages are full, it means we can't rescue any more from our local Animal Control facility where California law allows them to put animals to "sleep" after only two days.

June 2010 will mark the ninth anniversary of THE CATHOUSE, PAWS' cat rescue and adoption center.
The operation of our own facility has allowed us to expand the scope and professionalism of our rescue activity. As a result, we're proud to say that over the past nine years, PAWS has rescued almost 3000 cats and kittens and adopted them into caring responsible homes. Not bad for a tiny organization located in a rural community of 5,200 people!

WHO WE ARE
PAWS is a private non-profit organization dedicated to ending the killing of adoptable companion animals in Plumas County, California. We are located in the small mountain town of Quincy, CA, about 80 miles northwest of Reno, Nevada.
We are not part of or funded by any other group though there are many bearing a similar name.
PAWS rescues cats and kittens who would otherwise be put to death at the county animal shelter. In the past two years alone, over 850 beautiful innocent loving creatures were rescued by PAWS and placed in new homes.

ADOPTING A FRIEND
Our fee for adopting a cat or kitten is $60.00. This helps cover our costs for spaying & neutering, immunizations, and other medical care. Our average expenses per cat are much higher.
For kittens too young to be altered prior to adoption, $50.00 of this fee is refunded once proof is submitted that the kitten has been altered according to the terms of the adoption contract.
